Answering Dave's Question About Gothic Chess Computer Championship by
MorphyFischer
Hi Dave, for some reason the "reply" I wrote was never showing up, so
here it is.
A quick search of Gooogle found some links.
Apparently the winner of the Gothic Chess tournament gets $10,000
without having to pay an entrance fee!

Fluff in Fritz 9 by
chipschap@gmail.com
So, my copy of Fritz 9 arrived in the mail yesterday (excellent fast
service from Chess House), and of course I installed it right away.
My question is this: while "The Turk" is visually slick (even if the
moving hand freezes over the board at times) and the full-physics model
of piece movement on full-screen 3d boards is rather astounding (even
if at times it reluctantly recognizes my attempted...

Mate in Two db? by
Robert Link
Greetings,
If this is a faq please forgive me and point me in the right direction.
I am dreaming of an open source electronic something akin to Polgar's
doorstop "Chess." What I want is to be able to open up xboard (or
whatever) and have it present me with a mate-in-two problem, then
another, then another. Am I dreaming? Or am I failing to grok some
standard feature of some existing...

Analysis board - Fritz9 by
Locksley O. Young
My analysis board comes up with the colors flipped... and I cannot get
it to synchronize with the main board as far as color on the bottom/top
is concern. Is it working as designed? How can I change this if this is
not a design issue?
Thanks.

Graham Hill
There are many chess programs on the market as well as a ton of information
all proclaiming one over the other. I am interested in purchasing one
however have no idea which program. Does anyone know of a site that has run
valid, unbiased comparisons on the major programs (against one another) ?

Is this yet another Chessbase software bug?? by
The Man Behind The Curtain
In my copy of Hiarcs 8, when I go into "engine parameters" and change
things, the next time I fire up Hiarcs those changes are no longer
there, even when I click "save" in engine parameters.
Is there something else I have to do or is this another thing the
program just doesn't seem to remember after you quit, like the time left
on the clocks?

chess software by
Goto ChessCentral.com for great prices on chess software, and chess
materials. I've found that it is a great place to get most of the new
stuff, and they have great customer service! (If necessary)
I've got the new Fritz 9 program, and my 12 yr. old and I love it.

Goto chesscentral.com and search the array of great chess sets, and
programs, as well as books realated to the subject.
The new Susan Polgar DVD will be out soon, and they carry the entire set
Susan Polgar DVD's.
Everything is a great price, and several shipping options are available.
The daily deals are great, I've taken advantage of a few to add to my
collection of software.

Fritz 9 too young? by
Jerry Creed
The ad for the upcoming Fritz 9 with an apparant emphasis on the Turk and
associated spectacular graphics.......................is Fritz pandering to
a younger, less serious market?
The other stuff, "stronger chess engine," "positional trainer" and so forth,
does any of that significantly improve the program?
Naturally, I'm suckered and will end up with it after agonizing over the
decision for...

Fritz 9 & Dual core PCs .. by
GSV Three Minds in a Can
I've been Googling and hunting around but can't find the answer .. so ..
does anyone know what, if any, use Fritz9 will make of Dual core CPUs
(AMD X2, for instance) .. or do they expect me/us to go buy 'Deep Fritz
n' to get any multi-threading benefit from PCs which look suspiciously
(OK 'exactly') like dual CPU systems?
I've got Fritz6, which is a bit long in the tooth now (not that I...
