Disdributed Computing for Chess by
Mr. Wizard
Does anyone know if there are any websites with information on using
disdributed computing for chess. That is, is it possible to have many
computers analyzing different lines of a chess game to come up with the
best move.

Building Fruit 2.1 from source: best options for Intel Compiler 9.0? by
Rumbuff
Hi there,
I compiled Fruit 2.1 from source (Windows 2000) with the Intel C++
Compiler 9.0.
After optimizing for my CPU (AMD Athlon XP 2500+) and profile based
optimization I found out that my fruit version still isn't faster
(nodes/sec) than the original exe. It's even, in the best case.
Any suggestions which compiler options should be used?

When two Chess computers play each other by
Mike B
that are the same , Shredder vs Shredder or any two that are the same
will they draw ?
Or if one wins does that mean that the program in one is some how
stronger than the other one ?

Game Over: Kasparov and Deep Blue by
LSD
I watch this movie tonight, sort of, while I was working on something.
I found it interesting..and was shocked to hear Kasparov say he was cheated.
Anyone got strong (or better still, informed) opinions about this. Did the
Deep Blue team cheat and have grandmasters available to kill off errant
candidate moves for DB when Kasparov got tricky, or is Kasparov a whiner who
needs to make excuses...

datamining and chess by
Folkert van Heusden
A few weeks ago I did a little data-mining on the game of chess.
I analyzed (using some scripting, of course) approx 350000 games by
grandmasters and rookies.
The results can be found he

Platchess.com Training by
Locksley O. Young
Is it possible to Save the training presentation you can get at
Playchess.com using the Fritz Chess media system.??
You may want to playback some instructions "at least audio and
animation" again. You PAY 2 ducats for it!! You should be allowed to
replay it.!!!
If that is possible ... how can I do it.??
Thanks.

Why do I all of a sudden get multiple gray database windows in My
Documents/Chessbase/Databases, instead of regular old red ones and why do
they remain after I've deleted these files from Chessbase program?

Won my first game against computer... by
BOZO
I am excited as I won my first game playing against KChess Elite
computer chess. I am new to chess, less than a week or so and I copied
the game and was wondering if someone could look at it and see if I
made some decent moves? I played white and made the first move. Also,
if there is another way to provide chess game information besides
copying and pasting, please let me know.
Thanks,
Mark

Chessbase 9 CHAOS by
glenn
I recently purchased chessbase 9 and megabase, and I've certainly
noticed it's a powerful program. I've heard a lot about how top
players use cb 9 for opening preparation, almost universally. problem
is, I'm having trouble doing so in a clear and organized way -- and
the tutorials I find online seem pretty scant.
any tips or methods for building and enhancing a repertoire? what do
you do?

Email games from Fritz Chessabse database by
Locksley O. Young
I have Fritz 8. How can I email a selected game from the database. After
doing an analysis on a game we played, I would like top email the
game... How can I do that? The way I ended up doing it was to export it
as a pgn file and then attach it to an email.
Is there a slicker way to email games from chessbase databases?
Thanks.

Chessmaster personalities by
The Man Behind The Curtain
Does anyone else find some of the Chessmaster personalities to be a good
deal easier/harder than their rankings seem to indicate in the
hierarchy? I find it very very hard to beat Buck, for example, or even
Vlad. T.C. also kicks my arse. On the other hand, I can wipe the floor
with Rick. That punk plays the most unsound opening gambits, and when
he initiates a series of exchanges, you can bet...
