Diagramming Software- Big Batches by Aaron Deskins
Howdy all, I'm looking for software that can print (or save as graphic file) many games in a pgn file and do it all at once. I have some pgn files that have 300+ games, and I'd like to print diagrams of all (or some of the games), but I don't want to spend ten hours loading each game individually then printing it. I can already do this. Any software recommendations? Thanks --

Bone to pick by Dan-the-K
My complaint is about two vendors. I won't give their names but you can probably figure them out. What they have in common is that they sell chess software and have set up forums to discuss chess software. They spend a lot of time responding to posts. The first one develops and sells chess software. They rely heavily on the internet, yet they keep their e-mail address secret. They do...

Chess Server Software - Any Free? by Matthew
Hi: I am developing a website (for free) for my local chess club. I would like to have the ability for members of the chess club to play against each other online. Does anyone know of any way for members to play each other live from my web server (I have a hosted site that offers MySQL databases and PHP 4 and 5. I understand that members could go to a free site and try to find each other to...

PGN files in another language by markfinn_0@hotmail.com
I have inherited a PGN file with the piece names in French (R,D,T,F,C,P rather than K,Q,R,B,N,P). Can CB9 take care of a conversion? Or do I have to manually edit the file (and make the piece names "English")?

Example code for Winboard interface? by None
Is there any example code for the Winboard interface? I wrote a few chess programs some years ago and I decided to play around again with chess program. Back then I just used regular DOS text screens etc. but figured that these days, I'd be better off with WinBoard. I thought it might be beter to just use some working winboard interface code and graft my search engine and evalutor into it. ...

Received Pocket Fritz 2! by John J.
Great program, very strong. I can even connect to the on line database with full search capabilities and statistics ! I can't do that with my PC Fritz 8 Deluxe. Great little program.... I have received permission from Pocket Grandmaster folks to sell my license to Pocket Grandmaster, which I don't need any more. Great program. $12.50 and it's yours.

Fellow Game Enthusiast, Check it Out! by fun21sunblue@hotmail.com
Friend, Check out http://ChezBrandon.com It's awesome. As it should be, those who are friends with individuals who are intelligent, industrious, and good create symbiotic and mutually profitable relationships. Brandon is one of my best friends; he -- like you -- has the above mentioned character traits but spends too much time studying, working, and spending time with his girlfriend Anne and

I want to send aome crafty analyis (html) to a friend who uses windows. I suppose I will have to send him my bitmaps also. What should I tell him to do with them? Or is there some simple way for him to install directly? Also the html output will have my path to the bitmap. Will I have to edit that by hand. I certainly hope not. Thanks for any help.

Shredder9- Fritz interface crashes everytime after about 7plies of moves when playing and analyzing from a position setup when using KRBKR Nalimov endgame by Komputer Korner
I have been building the Nalimov 5 man endgames using the Tablebase generator supplied with Shredder9. Shredder9 indeed uses the endgames but it crashes everytime when using the KRBKR tablebase. It may be because I have used the Optimize feature on Shredder to use over 75% of my RAM, but I am not sure why Shredder would need lots of RAM when using a tablebase. This sure looks like a bug to me....

Human-like playing engine by Mark
Hi, I'm considering "upgrading" from my venerable Fritz 6 to one of the newer Fritz 8 range of programs, to benefit from the training systems. I'm a weak player, and normally play Fritz using the 5.32 engine at its lowest ELO rating. I'd like to go for the version of Fritz that has the more human-like play (Junior?). Can someone please confirm that it can play sensibly

Fritz 8 settings by Martin Brown
My Fritz 8 has "lost" the ability to store thinking time with the game. Any ideas how I restore this feature? I need to work on my timekeeping... Store thinking time/evaluations/expected moves are all ticked Evalutation *is* stored correctly, but clock shows start times saved for every move. And I have tried unticking them and ticking them without success. I guess some bit of registry has gone...

CB9 - changing "rating" field by markfinn_0@hotmail.com
I have all the games of a 9-round tournament entered in CB9. However - I am missing the ratings for most of the players. Is there a way I can edit a player's name, and globally change/enter the rating field? I don't want to have to go through each game one by one - which seems to be the only alternative.

Train Like A Chess Champion: The 1/x rule by Ray Gordon
The 1/x rule is simple: the value of chess study is worth 1/x, with x representing the move number of the game. Move #1 is worth 1 point, move #2 is 0.5 points, move #3 is 0.33 points, and so forth. What this means is simple: for any given player, the quickest way to improve is to extend your opening repretoire one or more moves further out. The first blunder is the costliest, and most world...
