Chessbase Ebooks and Fritz 5.0 by
Sky Walker
hello guys,
I am planning to buy some chessbase ebooks. Will they work properly on
my Fritz 5.0? If they do not, will they work if i upgrade to Fritz 8.0/Deep
Fritz 8.0. I have chess master X, and do not want to upgrade my Fritz unless
its really necessary.
As far as i understand difference between Frtiz 8.0 and Deep Fritz 8.0
is the dual CPU support. So i can as well buy just Fritz 8.0 and...

Brilliant freewa Chessposition trainer by
Mantraslider
You should definately give this program a try! It has a very good
training feature, not only for openings, but also for middle and
endgame positions. The program is very new, but is still in
development, and the author is very open to suggestions, so I guess we
can expect a LOT of improvements. But already, it is a hell of a lot
better than Bookup when it comes to training, so there is no use...

Shredder 8 question by
Michael
I have a Celeron 2 Ghz with 512k Ram. Shredder takes about a minute to load.
I am not very knowledgeable about the running of such things, so would
adding more RAM decrease the amount of time it takes my laptop to get going
with Shredder. Oh, I have XP Home as the OS.
Thanks
Michael

crafty ftp site? or me? by
Keep On Riding
I am not sure if this is just bad timing on my part or what, but I have
been trying to download some the v19 Crafty source and binaries for the
last couple of weeks. It seem as though the ftp site at cis.uab.edu has
downtime comparable to most ftp servers' uptime! At least Mr Hyatt's
directory...
Anyone know of a mirror or an alternate place to download Crafty?
TIA,

looking to purchase a table top computer by
spork
hello. I'm looking to purchase a nice table top chess computer. I have
fritz 8 on the way and also own "talking lcd chess" which I am not very
impressed with.
I realise I wont have all the fancy features of a computer program but I
wont have the eye strain either. I imagine 90% of chess players couldnt
beat a good table top so it amazes me that they aren't more popular.
I'm looking for...

Want to buy a dedicated computer! by
Brad Short
Hi,
I'm looking for anyone who has and wants to sell one of the old RISC 2500's.
I'm also interested in a Mephisto Berlin Pro. These computers are old but
still very strong by stand-alone computer standards. We all like to play
with the latest and greatest programs like Deep Fritz or Deep Junior, but
most of us would still have our heads handed to us by either one of these
older machines....

"Total Chess Training" bug (slow animation) by

I have sent the following email to 3 days ago:

Hello,
I've just purchased and installed "Total Chess Training" on my computer
(Windows XP SP2 on an Athlon XP 1500+ with 320 Mb RAM) and I've noticed
automatic moves are shown very slowly in "Encyclopedia of Opening
Blunders" (I haven't tested the...

Victory. by
Jeet
Chesspartner is indeed advanced programme. I can not beat it on
another opening. But somehow, on c47 4 knights opening, I am beating
it easily. I don't understand why. Anyway, I end my chess abhiyaan
with another victory.

Interesting results of Arena tournament by
Jonathan Beckett
Hi all,
While picking away at my own (unfinished) chess engine I got caught in
something of a procrastinatory couple of hours and installed Arena on
my old laptop - and bunged a load of engines into a tournament.
(for those who have no idea what I'm talking about, Arena is a
freeware program that allows you to run tournaments between WinBoard
and UCI compatible chess engines)

CM 9000-Looking up Classic Games by
Tookelso
Hello,
In the tutorials in CM 9000, it says on occasion "See Classic Game
#(x)", where (x) is a number.
I go to the Library, to the Classic Game section, and don't see an
easy way to find game #x. There's no index numbers. I can look up
games by player names, but wonder why CM mentions "Game #(x)", because
I don't see an easy way to look up Game #(x).
