What is the difference between Fritz 8 and Shredder 8? by
Duncan
I'm not a very good player. I play with CM9000 on my PC. However, I just
ordered Fritz 8 for a change of scenery. It looked good to me because of the
training features and the ability to add on other training software.
So, what is the difference between Fritz 8, Shredder 8, and the others? Is
is simply engine difference? Would another program have been better?
Cheers,
Duncan

Help with Fritz 8 by
Zwan
I'm looking for a little help using Fritz 8. Before I purchased it, I
was playing using Arasan. Arasan is a good program, too good for me to
beat, so I decided to buy Fritz with the hope that I could learn more
and it would help me to improve my game.
Once Fritz was installed on my computer I decided to see how long it
would take it to beat Arasan, however I must be doing something wrong

Bobby Fischer Busted In Japan !! by
Guy Macon
Tim says...
If he was abused, how did we find out about it? This all sounds
profoundly implausible,
....completely unbelievable to those of us who have spent time in Japan.
Japanese law enforcement simply does not operate that way.

Gandalf 5 by
SethB
Gandalf 5 is out of stock and there are no plans to re-stock since there is so
little demand for this program. The author is or was working on a newer Gandalf
6.
Does anyone know of anyplace I can purchase Gandalf 5? Or does anyone have the
programmer's address, or a site where I can obtain the address (preferable)?

I've seen Gandalf6-Beta being tested online as recently as...

Chessbase 9 (Beta) by
Leo
It seems that Chessbase 9 is coming up soon.
On http://www.chessbase.de there is a report saying that there will be
a seminar with chessbase experts introducing the first time Chessbase
9 (beta) version.
This will happen on Sunday, July 25th during the International Chess
festival in Biel/Switzerland ... see

saved yahoo games -> gnu chess by
hawat@shaw.ca
when I play on yahoo I frequently send the game to myself via e-mail. I'd
like to press a button and convert those games into gnu chess saved games.
for people who play chess on pogo, yahoo or whatever, what do you do with
the saved games? how can those games be fed into a chess computer along
the lines of gnu chess?
thanks,

Ever wonder if the entire tree will be completed? by
stall@man.com
Supposedly there's about 10^120 different possible board positions and
10^75 atoms in the universe.
I _wish_ that one day a computer could find EVERY one of the possible
positions and end the debate about whether or not white _should_ win
b/c of the opening move advantage.

*.PBM to *.PGN by
Coffee
In article UCYIc.50135$eO.45893@edtnps89, says...
Can you guide me how to convert *.pbm files to *.pgn files? Or how to
use *.pbm files. Which software creates them? Thanks a lot.
A search on google gives this page, but there is plenty of reading
material and help if you look.
