shredder 8 questions by jp
First of all, how do I save a game? Second, how do I import pgn's from games I have on the internet and how do I use shredder 8 to analyze thesee games and help me pick the best move? I understnad not everyone will like that I am analyzing my game positions, but I am a beginner and plan to stop after I get the hang of chess. Just need shredder 8 to tell me the best moves for a little while.

Shredder 8-Junior 8, at game 30, Shredder squares up, 50% Live games! by Anson
http://homepage.ntlworld.com/ansonwilliams/chess/junior8test/ Shredder, this time determined not to be out done has squared up the score after winning the last 3 consecutive games. After losing round 26 to a questionable line of the french defence as white, it managed to get 2 wins as white playing 2. Nc3! to Junior's french defence (rounds 28 and 30).

Copyrighting Of Chess Games by Ray Gordon
Are there any REALLY strong players who want this to happen? If so, I'd be willing to hold a tournament and claim copyright to the games, meaning that the players would get the revenue from the tournament e-book (after my cut, of course), and the copyright would be enforced against anyone who published the moves of the games (or positions) with any mention of the players or the event. This...

alphabeta? by Benjamin Jordan
I'm a beginner having trouble understanding alphabeta search. A mating sequence might start with a queen sacrifice, but since the search hasn't gotten deep enough to see the mate, won't the sacrifice get cut off? And since that line is cut off, how does the search ever find it? Thanks.

"Chess Artist" vs. "Bobby Fischer Goes to War" by Karl Farmer
Of these two books, I much prefer the first to the second. The fact is Fischer is old news. "The Chess Artist" tells the whole history of the game, and gives it all in terns of simuls, blindfolds, big tournaments, the history of chess problems, the ICC, etc. "...Goes to War" tells a story we've all heard a million times and makes some terrible blunders along the way. The chess world is better...

Kasparov Mephisto 1985 Masterpiece by JD
I just came across a brilliant game Kasparov played against Mephisto in 1985. I don't have the whole, story just a snip describing how Gary played ten games simultaneously (w/o boards) and it picks up after blacks 27th move. Kasparov uses a series of sacrifices to win and it's wonderful to work through them. To think he played this game and 9 others simultaneously while blindfolded blows my...

FRITZ 7 Documentation by Bob Fairbank
I find the skinny 4" x 7" manual and the HELP FILE very limited. For example: the HELP FILE "find/search" feature only eliminates scrolling through the entries -- beyond that it is useless. There is no info on the relative strengths of the various settings -- BLITZ settings, FRIEND, etc. Deleting files does not delete them -- only draws a line through the game description. I'm beginning to...

Play on ICC with a PDA by Who cares anyway
Has anyone found a way to play on ICC using a PDA (specically in my case an HP iPAQ 4150 'pocketpc') ? The only way I have found is to use Intelli Chess, but that suffers several serious problems. 1) The pieces are difficult to see and distinuish. 2) You can only play on ICC as a guest. 3) When I played a game on ICC and my opponent promoted a pawn, (I assume to a queen), it remained looking...

fritz 8 checking other moves by Bernardz
I have a position that I wish Fritz to examine. At present it simply examines a very strong line and forgets the rest. Is there anyway I can get it to report on many different lines other then me specifying what they are. --

CM6000 -> ????? for Win 2K Pro by Stephen Rybacki
All, New to this group but a long time Chessmaster series owner (CM2000-CM3000-CM6000). I would like to get a quality computer chess program for use on my Win 2K Pro workstation and I have noted with a bit of wonder that the Chessmaster series has never officially supported this platform! I am not opposed to going with some other program as long as it contains good teaching material for...

BEWARE of MIKE LEAHY. He has no utility to this newsgroup except to take every opportunity he can to HARD SELL his THIRD RATE product with an UGLY INTERFACE and DUBIOUS UTILITY. He has been accused on this very group of --DISHONORING-- his "money back guarantee" and of --SELLING HIS CUSTOMERS' EMAIL-- addresses to Internet marketers a.k.a SPAMMERS. There's no reason why complete strangers would...
