Problems with Junior8 and Fritz7 programs on my computer. Can anyone help? by
Oscarancasey
I have recently bought a new copy of Fritz 7 (american version through
Ebay) and a second hand version of Junior 8. They appear to have the
same problem. he Junior 8 will use the Junior engine to analyse a
position but not a game. when asked to do so it says it it not the
right engine cd. I thought I had bought a dodgy copy though it looked
genuine but the Fritz 7 has a similar problem. Has...

problem installing Shredder 7.04 UCI engine (XP) by
Euc1id
I just bought and installed Shredder 7 on my new computer (op system:
Windows XP Home) and am trying to setup the Shredder 7.04 UCI engine. So I
downloaded "setup shredder 7.04 uci.exe" from the ChessBase website, but
when I click on it I get this error message:
Error: (a red X)
Don't read C:\Program Files\ChessBase\Engines\setup shredder 7.04 uci.exe
Is there some trick to make it work with...

Pocket Fritz/Grandmaster training database by
Thomas
Does anyone know if it's possible (or easy) to create training
databases that can be used by Pocket Fritz 2 or PocketGrandmaster 2
with Chessbase 8 (or other tool)?
I believe they are standard PGN files, but I'm not sure.
Thanks!

Printing with Latex in Scid by
Ulrich Dirr
Robert Steen wrote:
Does anyone out there use Latex to print out games in SCID? I remember
looking at the explanation of how to set up Latex a while back and
deciding that it wasn't worth the trouble. I have been exporting to
.html files instead and editing them in Word before printing. Is
there any real advantage to using Latex?
With LaTeX (I prefer PDFLaTeX) you just can do anything....

1. Let's say I'm black, and Scid tells me that in a certain position, that

I'm black so that's good, but -3.47 what??? Pawns, inches, miles,
ice-cream sandwiches?
Pawns.
It's funny, the one that's free is the one I would pay for!

it to say white has exactly 2 rooks, black has exactly 3 minors,...

Fritz 8 learning tool on Chessbase by
henri Arsenault
Chessbase has a new article on using Fritz8 as a teaching tool, vaunting
its various levels of play etc, and claiming that it is better than
Chessmaster for weak playing levels.
Now I love Fritz and I wold choose it over any other chess program if I
could choose only one, but one should note that the author of this
article says that he has a rating of 900 (!), which rather limits his
ability to...

Kasparov Chessmate lie by
Olivier D
Hello,
I bought today Kasparov Chessmate from Hexacto. The box says that inside are
the free PalmOS and Pocket PC version.
This is what decided me to purchase it instead of CM9000.
.... There is NO palmOS version. The install program just tries to download
it by ftp, but since palmOS versionis not released yet (see hexacto.com
product page), it doesn't get it.

fritz 7 vs fritz 8 by
Max
What is the 'positional knowledge' difference between Fritz 7 and Fritz 8 in
a more specific manner. Does Franz Morsch read chess books about positional
chess and tries to implement that in the Fritz series.

Fritz8 - training after full analysis by
Alexander Fischer
Hello,
I seem not to be able to use my new Fritz8 fully yet. What I'm
wondering:
I played a Blitz game, in which I definitely made some serious
mistakes. Then I let Fritz analyze it, and ticked "Verbose", and
"Training". It came up with the "??"-sign after a move, and also gave
some sentences like "doesn't pull the bull..." etc. However, I don't
get the "quiz questions" like they say in the...

New to CA Light by
Muggs
Hello All,
I just downloaded Chess Assistant Light, and I can do a full game analysis
on my games with that, and I seem to like it better than CB light. NO flames
please as I
don't know that much about chess analysis software. I'm a woodpusher 1st
class (1100?) and I thought that I would start to record all my games and
I'm finding out loads that I didn't know.
When I analyze my games in CA...
