Eric Moskow posts to The New York Times by samsloan
Dr. Eric Moskow has been posting to the New York Times website. Here is one of his recent postings and my reply: October 20th, 2007 9:35 am mr sloan may I suggest a compromise. Paul troung should resign fromthe uscf board, you should drop your lawsuit and a third party candidate that would support susans reform platform but not be under susans thumb might solve the issue. I am sure a jim eade,...

Rob The Robber") Mitchell trashes the USCF to the New York Times by samsloan
Rob ("The Robber") Mitchell, who tried to con a poor investor out of $35,000 in a front money scheme by claiming to have made a deal with Bobby Fischer, who has never played in or directed a USCF rated chess tournament in his life and who joined the USCF for just one year so that he could apply for a job with the USCF and has not renewed, has trashed the USCF in a posting to the New York Times...

USCF is not ready to die by samsloan
I think that everybody else but George recognizes that I am trying to save the USCF, not destroy it. The Fake Sam Sloan was elected to a four year term in August. If the Fake Sam Sloan is allowed to sit on the board sending out dozens of obscene and personal attacks on USCF members, every day for the next four years, do you think the USCF will survive? Source for Eight Officers Problem? by Proginoskes
Last night, I googled the Web for information about the Eight Officers problem. (Put two rooks, two knights, two bishops, a queen, and a king on a blank chessboard so that every square is attacked --- not just occupied.) I found a solution where both bishops are on the same colored square, and about a dozen positions where 63 squares are attacked. The general consensus is that 63 is best...

Rescuing Mig Greengard by samsloan
I have discovered one of those Wikipedia assholes has been going around trying to delete the biographies of famous chess personalities. He has already deleted the biography of Mig Greengard and Ali Nihat Yazici, President of the Turkish Chess Federation, and now he is trying to delete the biographies of Bernard Zuckerman, Burt Hochberg, Bill Hook and several others. Since the biography of Mig...

Does good chess correlate with high IQ? What Science (mag) says by raylopez99
What Science says, see below. So, are strong chess players really idiot savants that practice like crazy? Sure seems that way. Ever notice how if you don't play everyday you get rusty and drop 50 points? That's why it's good to warm up first, before playing serious chess. RL
