Zap beats Rybka in close match.. by Guy Macon
help bot wrote: I think there may be positions where Rybka holds her pawn back, but should let loose, but by and large this aspect of the program seems to help her in the endgame. In fact, her obvious quirk of automatically placing pawns on the same color as the opponent's Bishop seems to be a weakness, yet in every game I have yet seen, this worked quite well. I wonder whether placing...

Zap beats Rybka in close match.. by Guy Macon
Ian Burton wrote: M Winther wrote... It's idiotic that it becomes a competition about best opening preparation. Had they played Chess256 instead, then it would have been a proper measure of playing strength. Chess256 is standard chess, only that the opening setup for the pawns is chosen randomly while satisfying the condition that the pawns must be either placed on the second...

Depth Fist Search and Breadth First Search and using array by Summercool
I just wonder if for DFS (Depth Fist Search), we don't really need an array to act as a Stack (LIFO), but we can just use recursion. Is it true that the main concern is stack overflow? (if too deep level). If we use the array as a stack, then the overflow problem is gone. Now, however, if our program is to spider the web, or to go down the game tree, and we set the levelMax to 10, then the...

GetClub Chess Game Tweaked. by Sanny
A few things were adjusted. The game will play like earlier and will not spend time on long calculations. Lets see if the game plays better. Play Chess at: http://www.GetClub.com/Chess.html However, I was able to beat Beginner Level. Higher Levels will play very good moves.

CA 9.1 Analysis Problem by Capa[_2_]
I have had the program for about a month and also have installed the Nalinov tablebases. About 80% of the time when using Engine--game analysis--time/levels, the program goes though its analysis, inserts the opening games referenced and then fails to insert any analysis from the middle game onward. I have background manager on. The only way to insert any analysis is to use infinite...

How To Fool Fritz, but not Fischer by Chess One
Dr. Phil: Dutch GM Tim Krabbe compīled website with "110 MOST FANTASTIC CHESS MOVES EVER" We did computerevaluations of all of them. Topalov-Shirov and Spasski-Bronstein refuted. Fritz/Rybka play the "Game of the Century" Byrne-Fischer EXACTLY like RJF did. Amazing.

Reformed Chess by M Winther
It seems like about three quarters of the current world championship games end in a draw. Although the situation for chess is not acute (unlike Anglosaxon draughts that has been solved by the computer) I have the feeling that modern chess is involved in a slow downward spiral. The theoretical paths are well-trodden to the extent that the players are too much in control. Positions are becoming...

Getclub Chess beat whitehat with easy level. by Sanny
Whitehat a strong player was beaten by easy level. However nomorechess was able to win with easy level. Play Chess at: http://www.getclub.com/Chess.html That game had bugs when nomorechess won. Now the bugs have been removed. I feel It would be a lot difficult to win Easy & Normal Levels. Now the GetClub Chess plays in time.

Advice on Chess Computers by Fermin
Hi, I have a work colleage who wants to buy a Chess Computer. I have told to him to buy a Chess Software for PC, but he told me that he wants a real board to play. He has no ELO or ratings, and he is a novice player who only wants to enjoy the game. His only concern is that its level would be enough to beat him 75% of times, and that prize don't be too high, I mean, he wants a prize/quality...

110 best chess moves ever by albert h.alberts
All: Dutch GM Tim Krabbe has compiled his "110 best chess moves ever". I computerevaluated them. Most of them are spotted by machines immediately. If not: they are refuted, notably nr.2 Topalov-Shirov and nr. 32 a classic Spasski-Bronstein 1960. Fritz/Rybka follow every move in "game of the Century" Byrne-Fischer. All on www.howtofoolfritz.com

Can you tell me about pawn structure? by Sanny
Till now GetClub Chess only avoid double pawn formation and isolated pawns. Play Chess at: http://www.GetClub.com/Chess.html What type of Pawn structures are good and what type of pawn structure are bad? 1. If Pawns are on same rows not protecting each other {in front of King}. (Is it good) King has no place to move???
