Billing the USCF by
samsloan
Now that I'm a board member, I can afford to spend big bucks staying
at the Sheraton Four Points. I went to the nicest restaurants and
ordered the biggest steak on the menu. I would like to thank the USCF
members for paying all my expenses. It's great being a board member!
Please re-elect me for another 4 years. I can get used to this luxury.

Crossville HQ should be shut down by
samsloan
The staff in Crossville refused to host the next EB meeting. They
don't want me to go there. I'm sure this is because of Bill Hall. He
should be fired for this.

Goichberg wants to move HQ from Crossville by
samsloan
I favor having the May 13-14 board meeting in Crossville and
Nashville. Five board members expressed preference for this, except
for one who said that he could not attend on Mother's Day, so it was
decided that the meeting would be concluded on the previous day.
However, for some unknown reason, Bill Goichberg would not agree.
Goichberg implied that if the meeting was held there he would...

Proof of the Existence of The Fake Sam Sloan by
samsloan
My girlfriend has been posting on my behalf. She's hot, she's good and
she's cheap. My wife won't do anything unless I pay her a lot of
money. What a bitch!

Is there a library on FICS, like on ICC? by
Dave (from the UK)
On ICC one can have a library of 100 games, which are permanently saved,
until you delete them. This is different from your history, where the
oldest game gets overwritten each time you play a new game.
Is there a similar facility on FICS? If so, what is the command called?
I tried 'lib', 'liblist' and 'library' but had no luck.

Question about Zap Chess Zanzibar. by
george
I'm a little confused. Do i have to have the MP version of Zap chess, or
does this engine automatically run in Multi processor mode, on my dual core
system? I also use 64 bit windows, I assume i must have the x64bit version?

Print multi-diagrams with Fritz8 by
ryeung@earthlink.net
I'm thinking of building a library of some worthwhile patterns using
Fritz8 position setup.
I'd like to have those positions printed out. Is there any way to
arrange multiple positions
on the same page? Currently I can only print one small diagram at a
time. None of the
menu supplied functions seem to do the trick.
Anyone has any ideas?

Maybe now we can talk about something that's a lot more important than
what Mr. Sloan has on his website.

What's a good free chess program to set up positions? by
Marty Christion
Hello. I have some chess books to read, and I need a chess program to
use where I can set up the pieces and follow along. Obviously I need
coordinates, and I'd like it to have a selection of pieces.
Is there a favorite program for a task such as this? Can most computer
front ends do this?

The USCF lost $344,225 - Vote for Sloan, Schultz, Goodall and Lux by
samsloan
The USCF lost $344,225 in 2006. This is far less than the $2,000,000
other boards have lost. This is why you must re-elect Don Schultz and
me and elect Mike Goodall and Joe Lux. The USCF is better off in our
hands.
This is my response to the report on the web from the committee who
went to Crossville.
I've received reports from the meeting in CA and it seems that these
issues will be addressed...

Need russian tester for Scid by
pascal
Hi,
I put russian translation back into Scid in my latest release of Scid here :
http://prolinux.free.fr/scid/
I've used iso8859-5 encoding, which I suppose is good for Cyrillic
characters but I'm unable to check if it's ok by myself.
So if anybody could try it and provide me some feedback at
, and even help fixing it, this would

looking for a database of lots of chess games by
responsible
Hi,
I am doing a small research project related to chess. I was looking
for lots of chess games to use. They don't have to be from top players
(though that would definitely be a plus).
I need tons of games, though. Maybe 10,000, maybe more.
Does such a database exist? Is it free?
Any links would be much appreciated.
Also, are there any freeware chess board libraries for Windows? I
tried...

unix tool for removing duplicates from a large .pgn file? by
Folkert van Heusden
Hi,
I'm collecting as much chess matches played (by humans) as possible.
Now I have around 400MB of pgn-files and I would like to remove the
inevitable duplicates.
Does anyone know a tool for unix (linux/macos x/bsd/aix/etc.) doing so?
