CA 2.0 - a presentation by
M Winther
Another old, but good, database is Chess Assistant 2.0 for DOS. As
one today can run DOS programs neatly under WinXP, using DOSBox,
this database could be revived. A presentation with screen shots can be
found he

TascBase 2.1 - a presentation by

I felt the need to document this excellent chess database, TascBase 2.1,
before it is forgotten. A presentation with screen shots can be found he

Tablebase statistics by
Mike
I am looking for information regarding the distribution of N in "mate in N", versus "number of pieces on board" for
table-base calculations. Has anyone done this for existing table-bases?

Chess Engine kN per second by
vram1974
I have a strange question... I often run chess tournaments among
different programs on my computer for fun and also for different
analysis opinions in my post-mortem games. But it seems some chess
engines have very low search node strengths, and sometimes they
vary.... for instance:
Deep Junior 10 usually runs at about 670kN per second, but often spikes
to 800-1200.
Then Rybka 2.2 will run at a...

I'll sue the USCF and all board members by
samsloan
If they try to get rid of me, I'll sue. I'll take down the entire
federation with me. You'll never get rid of me. This is my federation.
I've been a member for more than 50 years. I'm the most important
person in the USCF. If you don't like me then form your own chess
federation.

Help with Two Computer Matches on LAN by
Mr.E Solved!
Hello all, I have a problem all the way from Fritz 8. I would like to
have two PCs play chess on my lan. I have a working lan and working
Fritz installations (Fritz10 is patched with gui10.msi).
The problem is, it never works. Assuming I've tried almost everything,
and assuming all the protocols and services and firewalls are in place
and properly configured, wtf? I mean, it's Windows XP,...

What's on your Chessbase Configuration? by
deckerd123
I have picked up an old Dell computer with 15 gigs of drive space which will
now house all of my chess related software.
I have Chessbase and Fritz and have played around with a couple of the Fritz
trainer instructional programs with the video tutor feature.
A quick check of the shopping sections on the Chessbase website has me
curious? How useful are all of the available add ons now...

Rated PC-chess playing against other Chess Engines ? by
BottleGhost
I'm not a good chess player myself, due to a lack of concentration.
It is a real psychical deviation and a handicap for match-playing.
But I do like the game, and like seeing chess matches between
persons/persons, computers/computers, or persons/computers.
Just like horse-owners who have their champs in championships,
i would like to play with my PC-chess-computer RATED games
against other...

Marcus Roberts is a big fat chicken by
samsloan
Marcus is afraid to rant and rave on the USCF forum. He's nothing but a
big fat chicken. He doesn't dare to attack me there because he knows
that I'll kick his ass. What a coward! Be afraid Marcus! Be very
afraid!

Chessbase 9 and MS Frontpage? by
Prince Bishop
I'm attempting to build our club website, and I wanted to use the java
board in CB9 to enable readers to play through some games, but when I
try to save games into Frontpage, CB9's java board becomes unplayable?
Am I doing something wrong? Are they compatible? HELP!

I do not like recent improvements in google. by
Sanny
Recently I find everything changed at Chess Groups.
1. I do not find list of Groups I recently visited at right corner.
2. When I reply a new Page do not come.
3. Every thing is written in very small font.
4. When replying it do not list all groups in the reply button. That
need to be done manually.
Is there a way to get back to original Google Groups Style as the new
style is not good.

Chessville Vignettes - All by
Chess One
Here is an idea to write 500 to 700 words on your favorite player, chess
anecdote or event. The subject needn't be American, and this need not be an
encyclopedic entry - but something to show the flavor of the life and times
of a chessplayer - or even of a chess idea, as below.
After recent criticisms here in these newsgroups - some of which are valid,
but some include preferences which do...
