Anyone seen a preview of ICC software? by
Thomas T. Veldhouse
Has anybody seen a preview of the upcoming ICC software release ? They have indicated some great
enhancements are to be released this month and I am curious what to expect?
Will it still work with WinBoard and other type clients ?

Ports used on ICC by
Dave (from the UK)
Does anyone know the significance of the ports used on ICC?
In Blitzin every time I try a new connection it seems to pick a random
port. Is there anything to be lost by sticking to the same port each
time? So far I can see none, but I'm a but surprised they have multiple
ports. One expects a web server on port 80, an SSH server on port 22
etc, so why ICC need to have their server listening...

Delphi or C?? by
Jaco van Niekerk
Hello all
Your recommendation please. I want to write a chess engine.
I know Delphi very well. I know C a little. All major chess engines are
written in C, but how does that compare to Delphi?? Do you think that it is
worth learning C to implement a good engine (I'm aiming for 2100 elo at
least) or will Delphi be good enough? In short - is the language a critical
factor in writing chess...

Sam Sloan's Secret Agenda for the USCF by

Sam Sloan's Secret Agenda for the USCF
Now that I have been elected to the Executive Board, I can now reveal
my hitherto secret plans for the future of the organization. And, no,
I am not going to guillotine all my defeated opponents, at least not
just yet.
Here are a few things I am going to try to get done.
1. Crossville Land Deal. The first thing I want to see is the deed to

Ensuring Sam Sloan does not get to sit on the EB by

Dysfunctional an organization as it is, the USCF with Sam Sloan anywhere

Hanken more Fully Explains the OLM Title by

Hanken more Fully Explains the OLM Title
Jerry Hanken called me at 7:00 AM this morning to continue our
conversation of last night. He says that I caught him as he was on the
way out the door when I called him to ask about the OLM Program and he
answered off the top of his head and that he was unaware of the thread
that was going on.
When Jerry hurriedly finished the previous conversation, he...

Ensuring Sam Sloan does not get to sit on the EB by

Borked Pseudo Mailed writes:
A thing that came out from one of my discussions - your poster "jr" is not
GM Larry Evans, as I read. Instead it is definitely and certainly the fired

federation with the same IP (207.200.11?.???) as is used for the "jr"
posts. Parr must have forgotten he...

Bobby Fischer and Sam Sloan are both FELONS by

Sloan is a US TRAITOR as a supporter of Osama Bin...

Ensuring Sam Sloan does not get to sit on the EB by
Ray Gordon
I predict that, handled properly, this could get to the Post or the
Times -
as well as Slate, which may count for more.
And my rebuttal dossier will follow within seconds.
A chess federation that hires a relative of a known organized crime figure
is in a very precarious position to be talking about morality on its board,
but feel free to see what the public thinks.

Best processor by

What is the best processor for chess engines? Exclude the double
processor versions.
Recently I tried a Centrino based laptop and found to be doubly faster
than a Pentium 4. Why is it so?

Legal threats from Polgar and Truong by

Legal threats from Polgar and Truong
On Friday, July 21, 2006, it was announced that Sam Sloan had been
elected to the USCF Executive Board. Almost immediately, Paul Truong
started attacking me in postings to the USCF Forums website. Today is
Jaly 27 and in the six days that have since passed, Truong has
attacked me a total of 115 times, including 25 times so far today.
Truong has repeatedly...

Ensuring Sam Sloan does not get to sit on the EB by
leshaun.fossett@gmail.com
This shows how unproductive and petty you people can be; it may be a
contributing factor to the sorry state of affairs within the USCF.
You mean to say that you are willing to waste your time and money on
this, all because 1 board member you don't like was elected?
You guys really need to focus on chess.

Ratings Life? by
Ringo
I was a member of the USCF about 20 years ago and competed in a couple of
rated tournaments. I had a (very modest) rating and was listed in the
ratings pages in the back of the Chess Life magazine.
If I re-join the USCF, will my old ratings and tournament history be
revived? Will they even put my old info and new info together again? Am I
wasting my time?
