Vektor 3 Spikes my CPU by
raggio
Have any of you also experienced CPU spiking to 100 % when running
Vektor 3? I see it all of the time. i have a 1.5 GHZ Mac mini with
512 MB RAM. Not a powerhouse, but I don't expect CPU to go 100% when
doing permanent analysis.
Many of you suggested I try Sigma in my other thread. Does it also
suffer from CPU spiking? Is there another good program that I should
try besdies these...

Mac Software Recomendations by
raggio
Hello. I am new to the group and am looking for some advice. I
recently switched from Windows to a Mac and would like to know which
Mac program (preferably free) is good to use for playing against the
computer, analysing games, and playing back pgn files and possibly some
DB searching. I used Fritz 7 on my Windows machine and liked it. Is
there something similar in the Mac world? I...

Thinkerboard for Pocket PC by
mike
Thanks to Dave for turning me onto this program. First PPC ICC interface
that's ever worked for me.
However, it seems that it has an "engine" loaded at all times. Does anyone
know if I need to register an account as a computer-playing account (C) to
use this interface?

Mac Client for FICS by
raggio
What's the best Mac OS X client for FICS? I am trying out Jin and like
it so far, but would like a client that makes it easier to find and
watch games. As I see it now I need to use the terminal commands
"games" and "observe" to do it and it is hard this way. I'd prefer an
interface similar to cgoban used to play Go games on KGS.
Thanks,
John

Script to classify ICC games as Bullet, Blitz or Standard by
Dave (from the UK)
I've written a small UNIX/Linux shell script that reads from a PGN file
containing one or more chess games and adds to the PGN file either:
for each game played. So you can search games in a database based on the
type of game.

Crafty with muliple UltraSPARC CPUs by
Dave (from the UK)
At one point in the dim and distant past I compiled crafty to run on a
Sun which had 4 CPUs. I believe it was a Sun SPARCstation 20, with
32-bit SuperSPARC CPUs but it might possibly have been a quad processor
Sun Ultra 80 with 64-bit UltraSPARC CPUs. I've no idea of what version
ofd crafty it was.
I've downloaded the latest crafty (20.14), but it refuses to compile if
I try to define SMP...

Sanny
Now all Chess games at GetClub have to be completed before playing a
new game. If your connection disconnects then when you restart the
game, You can play your Old game or Resign that game.
So, You can also postpone your game for another day.
Play Chess at: http://www.GetClub.com/Chess.html
This way, You cannot cheat the computer by just closing your browser
when you are loosing.

Delphi or C by
Jaco van Niekerk
Hello all
Your recommendation please. I want to write a chess engine.
I know Delphi very well. I know C a little. All major chess engines are
written in C, but how does that compare to Delphi?? Do you think that it is
worth learning C to implement a good engine (I'm aiming for 2100 elo at
least) or will Delphi be good enough? In short - is the language a critical
factor in writing chess...

Does Pocket Fritz 2 Run on Windows Mobile? by
mike
I cannot get Pocket Fritz 2 to install on my new Dell Axim running Windows
Mobile. Has anyone been able to install it on a WM device?
I really enjoyed Pocket Fritz 2 on my old iPaq. I'm going to be bummed if I
have to go to another program.
Thank you

Sanny's Engine... something good, something weird. by
likesforests@yahoo.com
Today I decided to play your engine. Within a dozen moves, I easily won
a knight. Then my computer crashed. When I came back my game was still
there. Very cool!
Well, I exchanged some pieces to head towards a won endgame, when my
browser crashed. Sigh. I came back to your site and it again plopped me
down into a game... but it wasn't my game. Instead, this is some
pathetic game where White is...

Anyone seen a preview of ICC software? by
Thomas T. Veldhouse
Has anybody seen a preview of the upcoming ICC software release ? They have indicated some great
enhancements are to be released this month and I am curious what to expect?
Will it still work with WinBoard and other type clients ?
