Bobby Fischer has been reinstated in the USCF by
Louis Blair
"As far as the US Chess Federation goes, I have nothing
to do with them, I consider them to be a pro-Soviet, criminal
organization, terrible people. I would like... I would
appreciate it if all of my fans cancelled their subscriptions to
their horrible magazine Chess Life - I call it Chess Lies - and
withdrew from the membership of this organization. I haven't

tbgen and datacomp sources by
B Thomas
Hi,
I am looking for the source code for the chess endgame tablebases
generator used by Nalimov. There are many references on the net
to its availability but all links seem to be dead. Would be very
greatful if you could kindly point me to a working one. I would
also appreciate a pointer to the source of the compression utility
datacomp if it is not part of tbgen.

my wrong understanding for negamax with depth=1 by
yancheng.cheok@gmail.com
Consider the following game tree with depth 1. The bottom most is the
result from eval (white's score - black's score)
(max)

Suppose i am the white player, would try to maximize my position, by
choosing the 3th variation move. (node 3)

Sorry, I meant to copy this below to rec.games.chess.computer too. I'm

New directives from the USCF Executive Board by

These new directions from the EB are not wise. They are simply
transparent attempts to silence dissent.
The PROBLEM posters have had no shame and have made their identities
widely known. The one repeat poster that DIDN'T make his identity known
was *ME*. Now you require my USCF ID # before I can post. Especially
chilling is that this comes just a couple of days after I hear...

The book seller gets a discount of 50% to begin with,

with about $5,000 in royalties for months of work.

There seem to be several problems with Pocket Fritz 2 -

* Various installation issues
Does anybody know if Chessbase plan to develop it any more?

Boycott Gettysburg by
Tom
Link to Gettysburg photos showing the Gettysburg battlefield before
superintendent John Latschar's ego ran amok and ruined it.
http://users.snip.net/~hart/
We loved Gettysburg: married there, took dozens of week-long trips, spent
many thousands of dollars there, and even considered moving there. But those
days are over thanks to park superintendent John Latschar. He's ruining the

Suggestions for tags on ICC (perhaps others too) by
Dave (from the UK)
I feel the PGN files that are created on the ICC server lack certain
information that would be useful.
1) Whether the players rating is provisional or not. The PGN file has
WhiteElo and BlackElo, but these are rather meaningless if the rating is
provisional.
I'd suggest:

UCI GUI interface for LINUX by
Manikam
Hi,
I was wondering if there are any GUI's in Linux that support UCI.
I tried knights, but it doesn't seem to compile.
I use Fedora Core 3.
I have Jose, which does support UCI, but I don't think it
allows two machines to play against each other.
I was wondering what other Linux users do to run UCI
