is there anywhere a very new version of the ECO opening database with the
latest variations and opening names available, perhaps as a free pgn file?
Thank you very much in advance for any hints.

[Fritz 9] Explain All Moves by
tjb
I'm curious about the Explain All Moves pane. Does Fritz use the engine to
its *maximum* strength when suggesting moves on this pane? That is,
assuming I give the Explain All Moves pane enough time, on any given turn
does it report (via the first item in the list) what move the engine would
make on its *strongest* setting?

[Fritz 9] Sides? by
tjb
How do I determine who plays white and who plays black? As far as I can
tell, all I can do is flip the board and force the computer to move, or
take back the computer's move and make my own, depending on the situation.
But when I do this, the game still reports that the engine is playing on
the other side.

PGN to Excel by
ajbibi@gmail.com
Ok,
Someone must have done this before but I'm having a hard time. So any
help is appreciated.
I'm trying to get a PGN file into Excel form so that I can manipulate
the variables and have them be separate columns. I've tried importing
the data but it keeps treating everything as one column.
Is there a simple way to import PGN into an Excel file so that each bit

Chessbase uninstall by
ajbibi@gmail.com
I need help. CB 9 has been giving me all sorts of problems and the
suggestions that CB hq has sent me have not helped much.
I'm thinking a few clean uninstall and reinstalls might help. But I
find that CB isn't listed in Windows XP's Add/Remove programs panel.
What??
How do I uninstall the program? At first Chessbase tried to send
suggestions, but now they haven't responded in a few days. ...

Chessmaster 8000 font/text can't see ! by
neverwin
I've had to remove and then re-install Chessmaster8000 on an machine
running XP. All seemed ok, but when I run the program all the text from
the click boxes e.g. 'Login', 'Quit' etc on the opening page are
missing and, going to the GamesRoom all the dropdown menu headings
'File' etc are missing.
When I removed the program a dialogue box game up detailing 'cm800.ttf'
perhaps I clicked on the...

Commodore 64 Chess Programs by
SR
Hello: I like to collect and play Chess Programs. For my Commodore 64,
I have Sargon 2 & 3, and Chessmaster 2000.
I would like to know if any other Chess Programs were written for the
Commodore 64?
And where could I find Chessmaster 2000 for DOS?
Thank you!

Chessmaster 10th edition question by
Mama Bear
I have CM9000 and it can't save my place in the tutorials, which
makes it so that I can't use them.
Does 10th Edition allow you to save your place in the tutorials so
you can come back to it? If so, I might buy it.
Also, does 10th Edition still have the 2D Mohagany board set that I
prefer?

New chess book: It's terrifying! by
Some Loser
Scary to think someone would foist these chess secrets on an unsuspecting
world.
It has new moves unleashed, old theories obliterated, and thousands of
sample games to prove it.
It's a systematic and scientific refutation of every principle that chess
conservatives hold near and dear. Best of all, it will turn you into a
winner!

Minimum number of games to be "significant" by

If you want to use tournament results to show that one engine is better
than another engine, then the table below gives the needed number of
games for 95% confidence.

SEARCH WARRENT by

Dear Mr. Fake Zito and Mr. Fake Murry,
We are moving toward a SEARCH WARRENT. You had better not live in the
United States, Russia, St Kitts and Nevis, or Italy. If you are really
a good hacker, I DARE you to threaten the Life of the President of the
United States.
You see, this guy can't pull that stunt like threating George W. Bush.

Why Marcus Roberts is a better chess politican than Sam Sloan by
Andrew Zito
Ambassador wrote:
I say this because I know, as a FIDE Delegate, what is coming next.
I ACTUALLY WON A USCF ELECTION (Regional Vice Presdient) as a write in

win, becasue he keeps on LYING.
I was also elected VP of the TExas Chess Association.
