After 1.Qh4 hxg5 2.Nxg5 Re8, analysis with Fritz indicates a winning
attack is still there. The key is not 3.Qh7+, but 3.Bc4!, threatening
4.Bxf7+. After 3...Ne6 (forced) 4.Qh7+ Kf8 5.Bxe6 the two main lines

A) 5...fxe6 6.Qh5 Kg8 7.Rd1! (threatening 8.Nxe6) 7...Nf5 8.Qf7+ Kh8

The term "mating attack" does not necessarily mean a forced mate
exists; it can also mean that mate threats force the defender to give
up more material than he can afford.
I don't claim the above analysis is perfect, and there are other
variations, but Reinfeld's verdict on the position looks basically
sound.

Thanks Taylor for the thorough analysis, you're right, white's still
better.

But the point is that the problem should be a combination one, and the
lines "you" analysed are just given for granted by Reifield saying
"mating attack". Some of the lines you found are tougher for white
then the Reinfield's main one. That's why i still think he somewhat
overlooked lines.
