Default India's first International Super GM Tournament

should begin in the next few hours with live games

http://www.chessindia.org/pune/

Anand is not there, but India's #2 Sasikiran is there, Kasimdzhanov is
there, and an interesting mix of other players, category 16.

I hope for the sake of the planned Kasparov-Kasimdzhanov match that
Kasimdzhanov will do a LOT better than in the recent tournament in the
Netherlands. The bids for the match will soon be over if FIDE does not
extend the deadline.

I thought Super GM's were all over 2700. There is not one player above 2700
in this tournament. How can u call it a Super GM?

"SuperGM"s with rating 2700+ live in a cristal tower and play among
themselves and it`s extremely boring to the public. ;-)

Anyone had more luck?

Pete, I am looking too - at either complete games from round 1, or games in
progress from the GM or International section. Haven't actually seen any
pieces move yet.

In one game from Rd 1/International, Scherbakov is on move and has a mate in
two over the board, at move 26, by playing Qh5+, 26...Bh6 [forced] 27
Qxf7++, and since I saw this sequence in 10 seconds, I wonder why no move
has appeared for 10 minutes, and there are no results posted yet, so I must
assume this was the result of the game - and 'live' means the moves are
being hand-entered in batches, rather than broadcast direct from sensory
boards.

Phil Innes.

The term Super GM Tournament is reserved for tournaments in which the
players all have a rating of 2700 or better. This is no Super Tournament.

As a matter of fact there is no such a title as Super GM. Thus there are, in
fact, no Super GM Tournaments :-)

Guys, be happy for chess and India that Anand manages to popularize the game
to such a great extent! In that light, who cares about names of tournaments!
