hi there!
i've heard of a computerized chess set that, amazing as it sounds, is capable of moving the men automatically!! i'm doing searches like crazy but can't find anything on it - so i hope someone reading this can shed some light on this or tell me that this is nothing but a hoax tia john |

If I remember correctly, someone told me that 1 Nf3 (for example) would be accomplished by the f and g pawns sliding apart, the knight moving between them to f3, and then the f and g pawns would slide back into position. I once tried to order one of these machines, but it did not work and I decided to return it and ask for a refund instead of requesting another one. |

It's like the old "chess-playing automaton" from the 19th century. Better to do it with computers. Even in an OTB tournament, each player could be given a computer screen and a mouse, then the players could play face-to-face a la the internet. Bill Smythe |
