It would be interesting to know what Andy Davis thinks about the recent
Fischer case. "Sam Sloan" wrote in message ... Bobby Fischer's Lawyer is Hot on the Case I just received a call-back from Andy Davis, famous among chess players as Bobby Fischer's Lawyer during the 1972 Fischer-Spassky Match in Reykjavik, Iceland. Andy Davis now works in the New York Attorney General's Office. His call to me was a routine call-back in response to several telephone messages I had left regarding my lawsuit against Beatriz Marinello and the United States Chess Federation. I think it is just a coincidence that Andy Davis used to be Bobby Fischer's lawyer and now he might be appearing in the litigation involving the United States Chess Federation. Andy Davis said that in this sort of case the buyer would not be able to close on the sale of the building because the buyer would not be able to get title insurance. He was doubting whether the deal had actually closed. I replied that the USCF has received the money, $513,000, so therefore it must have closed. But I wonder: Perhaps the buyer did not apply for title insurance? Perhaps the buyer is not aware that there is doubt whether the sale is legal? Does anybody know? Andy Davis was important in a turning point of my life because it was Andy Davis who, in 1972, informed me that Bobby Fischer wanted me to come over and visit him during the Fischer-Spassky Match, which was then being played. I immediately ran to JFK Airport and caught a flight to Reykjavik, where I later got involved with my Wild Icelandic Girls and the rest is history. So this is the latest of the many coincidences, which include a judge named Horowitz presiding over the fate and future of the United States Chess Federation. Sam Sloan |
