Jacob Lawrence painted several pieces that were devoted to chess.

Also, you might want to take a look at the art of Samuel Bak:

I just looked at the link you give and the paintings of Samuel Bak on chess
are wonderfull

I will probably add a painting of him but I think I need the permission of
the artist (born in 1933)
