Ray was a great chess guy. He was my first upset of what we considered
a strong player back in those days, and I was able to play him speed chess again at a later National Open - more than 20 years later! Ray was always a class act, winning or losing. He will fulfill my dream of taking a few games from Rudy Spielmann first; I hope he will give me a few pointers when I see him again. RIP, Caissa's Warrior. |

Ken Marshall reminded me that Ray beat Hikaru Nakamura (only 11 years
old or so, but already a strong master) at the 1999 National Open. http://www.uschess.org/msa/XtblMain....420.1-10337011 |
