I tend to hand enter the moves to study and annotate as I go. google or yahoo search provides other choices: "Yahoo! Chess Game" pgn conversion |

I'd strongly recommend that, if you're serious enough about chess to want to store your games in PGN format, you should consider playing somewhere other than Yahoo. The quality of opposition at, say, FICS, ICC or Playchess is rather higher. (And you get to try out openings other than 1.e4 2.Bc4 2.Qh5 !) If he likes playing on yahoo, let him, you elitist swine. Besides, its free and simple and my wife likes it to try out new openings and attacks. I do recommend FICS, however. (schachster I am) |

Thanks again, Woolfie! One problem though. I play fast games
usually 5/0. And of course I forget to e-mail them every now and then. Once you fail to do so I don't think it can be remedied as it appears Yahoo does not keep any games on the server. The conversion program "chess2pgn" generally works well but has a bug or two. For instance if both Knights are capable of going to say d4 square the program gets confused and butchers the rest of the game. But then having paid for it exactly zero dollars I cannot complain. It also seems to work on one game at a time, only. I do play on FICS as well and I prefer it to Yahoo but find it interesting to play on different servers as long as they are free. :-)) For my level of play paying to be on ICC or similar would not really make a big difference right now. Your significant other is probably right about why it may be more interesting to play on Yahoo sometimes. I must say players on FICS are, generally speaking, much more polite. GM Bu. The Game's the thing. Exactly my point. And there seems to be very little of `the game' on Yahoo. If he likes playing on yahoo, let him, you elitist swine. I can hardly stop him... Besides, its free So is FICS. and simple So is FICS. and my wife likes it to try out new openings and attacks. Which she could do equally well on FICS (in unrated games if she prefers). I do recommend FICS, however.
