Default Dreuke Chess Pieces

Does anybody remember the plastic chess pieces made by Drueke in the
late 60's and early 70's? The USCF called them "Player's Choice" and
must have sold thousands of sets through CL & R and their annual chess
supplies catalogue. I remember these sets as being very popular. The
knights had the distinctive Drueke design and the pawns looked to me
like the nipples on old-fashioned baby bottles. I haven't been able to
find these pieces either on ebay or anywhere else. I can't even find a
photo of them. It's like they never existed. Does anyone have a set
for sale or know where I can get a set?? By the way, Drueke's current
plastic pieces look rather homely and "clunky" compared to their
graceful design of old, in my opinion. It seems strange to me that
Drueke would abandon such a popular design.

I thank you in advance
Mikey

Eureka! I found a pic of the Drueke chess pieces:

These are blonde and red. The ones I remember were blonde and black.

They show up on ebay often. Sometimes they go for more than $100 when
the condition is nice.

Thank you! I have found a replica of the Drueke pieces, only in wood.
They are called the "Duke." You can see them at
http://www.chesstopia.com Unfortunately, I can't afford them. This
site also sells a replica, in wood, of Pacific Games' "Cavalier" pieces
which were also very popular in the 70's.

happy holidays
Mikey
