RESOLVING THE ISSUE
Still, on the subject of playing strength, I have never claimed to be any great player, but think with a peak Elo of 2300+, and a top ranking of, as I recall, #46 in the country, I was a tad better than "weak." -- Taylor Kingston I think the only way to resolve this issue is for someone to put up 10 grand and I will play a match against Taylor. -- Phil Innes An excellent idea. Sam Sloan can be Phil's second, and Neil Brennen or Louis Blair will back up NM Taylor Kingston, the 2300+ ELO wingding. Calling funds committee chairman Tyrone Slothrop! Calling Joel Channing! This should be one heckuva match. Phil will be in trim form, and NM Kingston is the No. 47 rated player in the country. Heh, heh, heh. I hereby bet U.S. $100 on Phil Innes if there is a taker. Larry Evans can be match commentator along with a foreheadless choice nominated by NM Kingston. |

I will have great FUN watching and kibitzing another match ![]() Calling funds committee chairman Tyrone Slothrop! Calling Joel Channing! Well, I think Tyrone is jobless now in Tijuana (Mexicans get harder on US emigrants) so no doubt he will take the responsibility. |

KINGSTON VS. INNES
I pledged $500 towards a $5000 Innes-Kingston match purse for Katrina victims. -- Bill Brock I hereby pledge $100 for an Innes-Kingston match on the condition that Phil Innes, who will win, keeps the money for himself. NOT ONE PENNY FOR KATRINA VICTIMS. NOR A SINGLE CENT FOR THE OUTRAGEOUS SCAM THAT HAS BECOME THE COMPENSATION OF 9/11 FAMILIES. Bill Brock, who appears to have admitted to molesting young boys by doing something worse than showing them porn material (though I do NOT hold him to the letter of what he wrote), can act as Taylor Kingston's sports psychology adviser. Sam Sloan, who is ritualistically accused of molesting children without proof having been adduced, would be an excellent second for Phil. |

MY $100 PLEDGE STANDS
This is the marketplace. I will contribute to the prize fund, and Bill Brock says he will, too. If enough moolah comes in, we get a match. Phil is willing, though one figures NM Taylor Kingston will end up swilling. You know: "I have no desire to smell the body odor of Philth Innes. I have no desire to be in the same room with him. I am a spanking 2300+ ELO but my proud man's contumely is far more important than $10,000. I have standards." We wait for Randy Bauer to step in and offer to play instead of NM Kingston, which was the ploy employed when Sam Sloan challenged NM Kingston. |

Mr. Rubin seems to have mixed me up with a small pledge from Chesstours, the company that syndicates Evans On Chess. OK. I thought you were part of that company but I may have been thinking of some past venture that you did with Evans. |

Sam Sloan can be Phil's second, and Neil Brennen or Louis Blair will back up NM Taylor Kingston, the 2300+ ELO wingding." -- Larry Parr Help bot observes that it is quite possible Sam Sloan would be of great help to Phil Innes, the near-IM from Vermont (who may actually be weaker than Sloan); yet of what use might Louis Blair or Neil Brennen be to Taylor Kingston? Is TK to be fed "helpful quotes" by the Nutty Professor between moves? Or historical info to place his game into better perspective, by The Historian? And another thing: you would think that for ten grand, Phil would be willing to toss his near-IM title into the pot, winner take all. After all, he is the blitz master while TK is a slothful turtle, likely to blunder or lose on time in a winning position, OTB. "This should be one heckuva match. Phil will be in trim form, and NM Kingston is the No. 47 rated player in the country. Heh, heh, heh." -- Larry Parr Near-IM Innes doesn't like it when the opposition's name is listed with tiles, but his is left out -- that's favoritism. And postal -- excuuuse me, I mean *correspondence* -- masters are not called National Masters; they are called ICCMs (not to be confused with ICBMs). -- help bot (who "bets" an infinite number of bytes that this match will break down in the negotiation phase, if not sooner) |

I've compared playing chess with Sloan to pig-wrestling; it hurts your stature and only makes the pig happy. Playing chess with the Brattleboro anti-Semite Innes is a comparable act. I'll pass on this display; Mr, Kingston and Dr. Blair are free to do whatever they like.
