Default Top Ten Reasons to Play!

Top Ten Reasons to Play!

1. Chess is fun!
For over a thousand years, millions of people in all cultures and walks of
life have enjoyed playing the "game of kings," which probably originated in
India. Be careful--it's addictive!

2. Chess is a game for people of all ages.
You can learn to play at any age, and you don't ever have to retire!
Youngsters can play oldtimers, on a level playing field.

3. Chess enables you to meet many interesting people.
You will make lifelong friendships with people you meet through chess.
Wherever you travel in this world, chess can help you to bridge the cultural
gap.

4. Chess helps kids perform better in school.

5. Chess opens up the world for you.

6.Chess teaches you to plan ahead and foresee the consequences of your
actions.

7. Our brains instinctively respond to the beautiful harmony of chess.

8. Chess is the simplest of all games.

9. Chess is easy to learn

10. Chess is inexpensive.
OK, there are lots of books and computer programs to buy if you get really
serious! But all you really need to play is a board and set.

I think 3, 5 & 8 are rubbish.
and 4 & 6 are at best dubious!
There are some right thickos who are good at chess.

as for 9 well you can easily learn how to play but be completely rubbish.
The real learning comes when you try to improve and this isn't easy at all
(unless you have huge natural talent).
But I enjoyed the nice upbeat tone of your post and its honourable intention
of getting people to play : )

The imposter from "Crna Gora NNTPCache groupie" is using the name Tim
Hanke this time, that's what Taylor Kingston is trying to say.

Everybody knows that Tim Hanke is not an imposter, however, his name
is being used by the OP.
