Default 2nd Annual RGCP Grudge Match

From my perspective, Nb5 looks incredibly stupid, but after actually
considering White's position a while I realised it was no so very easy
to refute. Then I saw the "obvious" ...Rc7 and then ...Qa8 ("pin and
win"), and posted my comment about Sloan "hanging a piece". I really
*wanted to believe* that Sloan was that weak, that his pieces could be
trapped willy nilly, almost at will!

"Indeed! A tricky opening. (We see that I don't
use any computer program :-)"

Heretic! Humans are obsolete.

Fritz would see this move in a NY minute, if only I could find my
install CD. I have the "Talk" CD, which is of no use. Anyway, that
was a very old version of the program.

My other "busts" were simpler, not like this position.

Larry Parr has talked about Sam Sloan being a master or expert who
has bad days, resulting in a "Class A" rating -- or something to that
effect. But I am beginning to wonder if maybe there is some regional
ratings inflation in the NY area, as there is in say, California or
Chicago. Need more info.

In the pool of players I have faced routinely, none of them
specialised in the Grob, so I have never been forced to deal with this
or research the main lines. In fact, I was shocked that Black (Brock)
could get away with 2. ...Bxg4. Maybe I will dig out my old copy of
BCO by Tisdall & Schiller (with Kasparov & Keene).
