Taylor Kingston, and Nomorechess had been on top for 3 months. Now
GetClub game will soon beat them as it has improved itself again. Test yourself at Chess: http://www.getclub.com/Chess.html This Months TOPPERS At TOP currently is Taylor Kingston with 31 points. At Second Position is Richerby with 27 points. At Third position nomorechess with 24 points. But now it would be very difficult to win a game with GetClub Chess as it has improved a lot. So you should also play with Human players Online. Play Chess at: http://www.getclub.com/Chess.html Now Its Rating is as below Beginner Level: 1700 Easy Level: 1800 Nomal Level: 1900 Master Level: 2000 Play Chess at: http://www.getclub.com/Chess.html So if you are good player play with Beginner Level (That will finish you) If you are Tough Player (Play with Easy and Normal Levels) If you are tournament Player (Then Master level is for you.) However, If you still find weak moves tell me and that will weak move will be removed. Provide me full analysis of the game So that I may understand why the move is wrong. Sanny wrote: Taylor Kingston, and Nomorechess had been on top for 3 months. Now GetClub game will soon beat them as it has improved itself again. It doesn't seem possible to me. The last several times I have attempted to finish my game on the Advance level, I wait for *hours* and it never moves. A few times, the program shows that it has reached the 8th-ply, but eventually this retreats to 4 or 5 again. I must conclude that my internet connection is not uninterupted, and each time the game somehow resets and begins its analysis anew. At this rate, I cannot even make progress in a single game, let alone discover any improvements to the program, real or imagined. Taylor Kingston need not worry, as I cannot even move, let alone win any more points. ![]() Test yourself at Chess: http://www.getclub.com/Chess.html This Months TOPPERS At TOP currently is Taylor Kingston with 31 points. That's where I always find oodles of weak moves. ![]() -- help bot |

Play with Normal and Master Level at Maximum if you can easily beat the Beginner and Easy levels. Advance level may take an hour/ two hours for some moves as It is hungry for best move possible. Play with Beginner Level only and it will give you a good challenge. Once you beat all the levels Try Master Level. But never Advance Level (only if you want a game to be completed in a week) If it is not making any move Resign the Game by Pressing RESIGN GAME and start a new game with lower level. Bye Sanny. This seems a bit drastic, but after all, it's only a game. Just one itsy-bitsy, teeny-tiny detail: it is the computer's move, and there is no "resign" button on the display! My guess is that you can only resign when it is your turn to move. A couple of times I attempted to finish this game while at McDonald's, with a pretty good wireless connection. Even so, the computer never made even one single move. I half expected N-a5, chasing my Queen, with the idea of retreating back N-c3 and a repetition, if the computer calculates that it stands worse. But I was intending to play for a win, believe it or not. In terms of the time required to complete a single game with my connection, the advice to avoid the Advance level seems appropriate. Can you confirm that the analysis is "reset" whenever there is an interruption in the internet connection? The numbers I gave as "plys" may be soemthing else, but they seemed to work the same way, and on my computer, I have never noticed the number going higher than 8. -- help bot |

As the game has been improved even lower levels will be difficult to win. Bye Sanny Play Chess at: http://www.GetClub.com/Chess.html |

Do you want my programmers to delete this game manually, So that you can start a new game? Yes. My internet connection is not likely to get any better until they introduce WiMax, some time next year. The WiFi connection at McDonald's restaurants is often plenty fast, but apparently not good enough to make this thing work right on my computer. --------- I do not expect the ratings you listed to be accurate; for example, the beginner level is only 100 points lower than the next level, and so on. This only works if the human player also speeds up his play, so that he makes more careless errors against the faster-moving levels. In that case, it is not inconceiveable that there would be only 100 points between levels, but more likely, the jump from one level to the next should be much greater, and perhaps the true range will not begin so high as 1700. OTOH, the examples of play posted here of course, due to human nature, tend to be the games where the poster did well. Who is going to come here and write a post where he shows how a computer easily annihilated him in twenty moves? (I am a rare exception; I would post such a game, if it existed -- which it never will!) -- help bot |

Yes. My internet connection is not likely to get any better until they introduce WiMax, some time next year. The WiFi connection at McDonald's restaurants is often plenty fast, but apparently not good enough to make this thing work right on my computer. Your Game with Advance Level, has been Canceled without your Ratings affected. OTOH, the Play a few games with Beginner Level and let me know exact rating of Beginner Level according to you. As the Game has been improved. Earlier I was thinking it has 1600 Rating, So after improvements I feel the Rating would be 1700. Since with each increase in level the depth is increased by 1, So I feel +100 for each level is ok. Sanny wrote: Play a few games with Beginner Level and let me know exact rating of Beginner Level according to you. Based on my experience, and the fact that the program, on beginner level, just hung a rook for nothing after 10 moves, I would grant it a rating of 1000. And that seems generous. |

Your Game with Advance Level, has been Canceled without your Ratings affected. Thank you. Start a new game at: http://www.GetClub.com/Chess.html Okay, I am now playing the Normal level, which moves *much* more quickly. Unfortunately, the program has (three times so far) announced that its current move is my last move. In other words, its moves are not showing up on the chess board until *after* I reply! Then they appear instantaneously, along with my "reply". Then the program claims its last move was my last move again, and I am again faced with an invisible move. Please note that I am doing quite well so far, in spite of this little problem. Obviously, my moves work well against almost *any* replies. ![]() I have paused this game, and will restart after I reboot and open a new browser window, just to see if the problem goes away by itself. for example, the beginner level is only 100 points lower than the next level, and so on. Earlier I was thinking it has 1600 Rating, So after improvements I feel the Rating would be 1700. Since with each increase in level the depth is increased by 1, So I feel +100 for each level is ok. When you say the depth increases by 1, do you mean 1 ply, or 1 full move (i.e. 2 plys)? Suppose for example, that the number on screen represents the depth of search, in plys. A search depth of say, 2 plys might equate to around USCF 600, since at least the program plays legal moves (except for the issue with King captures). Increasing the depth to 3 plys might push the rating strength to 800, and going up to 4 plys could get you 1000. But at some point, there is a diminishing return. For example, if the program could see 1,000,000 plys ahead, increasing this to 1,000,001 would not amount to any measureable gain whatsoever, except against other million-ply-range computers. If it turns out that the number 8 I kept seeing on the Advance level represents plys, I seriously doubt the USCF rating could possibly exceed say, 1600. Even thougn computers are supposed to "see" everything, as opposed to humans, who often blunder, computers lack strategic planning and many are lacking in long-range position judgement. For example, a computer might count tripled Rook-pawns as equal in value to three pawns side-by-side. If I am not mistaken, Anatoly Karpov won a game in which this type of thing happenned; Deep Thought or some other strong program was busy gorging itself on irrelevant pawns, while he Queened the one which really counted. Humans can easily adapt on the fly, while chess computer's must be programmed exactly right, in advance, or they will stumble. -- help bot |
