announcing this event, without consulting the other five USCF board
members or the players or the US Championship Committee.

This deal will be rejected by everybody. I think it is time for Bill
Goichberg to step down. Bill is just not up to the job.

However, several of the players have stated that they prefer that there
be no US Championship rather than there be an online US Championship.

Bill's plan has NO SUPPORT from the players. Without the top players,
there can be no meaningful US Championship.

Furthermore, this year is a ZONAL YEAR. The top five this year qualify
for the next stage of the World Championship cycle. We cannot have a
world championship qualification decided by an online knockout
tournament. What if Kamsky and Nakamura get eliminated in an early
round and some patzer qualifies to the World Championship?

As Sam should know, the $300,000 figure isn't an "apples to oranges"
comparison of the USCF's financial performance to date. In that
calculation (based on accrual accounting), future year revenues were
deferred, but previous years revenues that should have been attributed
to the current fiscal year were not included. Bill Hall picked up on
this error at the end of last week and reported it in an email sent to
members of the EB as well as the Finance Committee. I believe the
office has done a recalculation, which suggests a signficantly
different picture through November. As Bill Goichberg has already
pointed out, the membership numbers for the second quarter were very
strong.

I vote no on this one. I do not think that this is a good idea.

Board members are already reluctant to say anything that will be
BINFOED. The result of this plan, if it passes, is that the Board will
classify almost everything as confidential, which means that nobody on
the outside world will get to know anything.

This would also enable board members to use BINFOS to campaign for
re-election, which will give them an advantage over non-board members.

I vote not to touch his rating and let us see how the rating system
handles this.

There are bound to be plenty of cases like this. We will just not know
about the others.

Howell's rating was artificially jacked up. Necessary because he was
playing in a GM Norm tournament.

Duncan, I appreciate your involvement and your efforts.

However, several of the players have stated that they prefer that there
be no US Championship rather than there be an online US Championship.

Bill's plan has NO SUPPORT from the players. Without the top players,
there can be no meaningful US Championship.

Furthermore, this year is a ZONAL YEAR. The top five this year qualify
for the next stage of the World Championship cycle. We cannot have a
world championship qualification decided by an online knockout
tournament. What if Kamsky and Nakamura get eliminated in an early
round and some patzer qualifies to the World Championship?

As Sam should know, the $300,000 figure isn't an "apples to oranges"
comparison of the USCF's financial performance to date. In that
calculation (based on accrual accounting), future year revenues were
deferred, but previous years revenues that should have been attributed
to the current fiscal year were not included. Bill Hall picked up on
this error at the end of last week and reported it in an email sent to
members of the EB as well as the Finance Committee. I believe the
office has done a recalculation, which suggests a signficantly
different picture through November. As Bill Goichberg has already
pointed out, the membership numbers for the second quarter were very
strong.

I vote no on this one. I do not think that this is a good idea.

Board members are already reluctant to say anything that will be
BINFOED. The result of this plan, if it passes, is that the Board will
classify almost everything as confidential, which means that nobody on
the outside world will get to know anything.

This would also enable board members to use BINFOS to campaign for
re-election, which will give them an advantage over non-board members.

I vote not to touch his rating and let us see how the rating system
handles this.

There are bound to be plenty of cases like this. We will just not know
about the others.

Howell's rating was artificially jacked up. Necessary because he was
playing in a GM Norm tournament.
