Default Why worship?

Why would an infinitely powerful Supreme Being care if it was
worshiped by mere mortal humans? The act of worshiping something or
someone is to exalt that thing or person to a high esteem or position
and to hold it and maintain it on a high level. We can imagine, for
example, the adoration bestowed upon Bear Bryant, Alabama's great
football coach. We can think of Robert E. Lee and his loyal
Virginians. We can even think of Mafia bosses, political leaders,
entertainers such as Elvis, and many other examples of worship
including the worship of inanimate objects in some cases. In each
case, the desire to be worshiped and the desire to worship are human
inventions. Take away the worship and the object of worship falls in
esteem; its exalted position vanishes, a painful experience for one who
seeks the adoration of the weakling masses.
Now, because a Supreme Being, such as the God most people presume
exists, is infinitely powerful it is therefore already infinitely
exalted and cannot be reduced no matter what. So why would God give a
**** if people worshiped Him or not? Furthermore, and all powerful God
already knows what He's going to do with everyone from the day each
one of them is born all the way, each day, until each one dies. He,
the infinitely powerful one, knows who has been and who is and who will
be naughty or nice all the way through the whole deal.
If God is a god that demands our worship, then he must not be all
powerful if he cannot gain the worship of every potential worshipper.
Under those circumstances it is very likely that there is no Supreme
Being at all. He is merely an invention of the human imagination, a
fairy tale and a great hoax upon the masses of religi-bumpkins.

Religions promise 'mortals' to become 'supreme beings' and therefore thay
want mortals to obey their rules. Of course it is only a promise based on
faith. Likewise many chess teachers/schools promise you to be taught by them
to play chess well but it does not always happen ;-)

What it comes down to is respect.

Now, because a Supreme Being, such as the God most people presume

exists, is infinitely powerful it is therefore already infinitely
exalted and cannot be reduced no matter what.

correct

comes down to choice. Everyone has a choice.

Perhaps it is better stated that unless one has truely
worshiped he doesn't understand the experience. Its kinda
like trying to describe what icecream tastes like to someone
who has never had it.

If God is a god that demands our worship, then he must not be all
powerful if he cannot gain the worship of every potential worshipper.

If I put a gun to your family's head and said 'worship me' I bet you
would do it. But is that really worship? Maybe on the outside but
on the inside it is not. We are all given a choice we must make that
choice.

Under those circumstances it is very likely that there is no Supreme
Being at all. He is merely an invention of the human imagination, a
fairy tale and a great hoax upon the masses of religi-bumpkins.

Want proof? well heres a challenge I give all atheists and agnostics.

First, if a supreme being came right down and proved that he exists
and asked you to follow his ways would you do it?? Remember he
has now proven it to you, so you have to make a choice.

next Ask God to prove his existance. Jesus stated if you seek
you will find. The diciple Thomas said 'unless i can put my fingers
in the holes in his hands I won't believe' (my own paraphrase ).
Just say 'hey God if your out there, prove it and then I will follow
you'.
If nothing happens then atleast you will have a valid defense on
judgement day .

I tend not to be 'pushy' about my personal beliefs, but seeing as
you have brought up the subject I completely respect everyones
beliefs. Some of my best friends are atheists. I would
hope that you can do the same to others who don't share your
belief that there isnt a God by not refering to them as
'bumpkins'.
