Default Los Angeles Open Chess Tournament Results

On Sunday, Jan. 7, 2007, the Exposition Park Chess Club
[http://chess.expoparkla.com/] hosted its monthly free, open, unrated
chess tournament at the Exposition Park Library
[http://www.lapl.org/branches/06.html] in Los Angeles.
The tournament consisted of two quads and one Swiss System section
of six players. The tournament, therefore, attracted a total of 14
competitors.
The names of the winners, together with their winning scores, were
as follows:

1st Quad:
1st Place - There was a tie for First Place between Marc Conde,
Fernando Corona, and Augusto Picardo, all of whom had a final score of
2-1.

2nd Quad:
1st Place - Patrick Dailey 3-0
2nd Place - Bertram Buggs 2-1

Swiss System:
1st Place - Eyulkala [sic!] Hill 3-0
2nd Place - There was a tie for Second Place between Joshua
Baldacci and Jose Penado, both of whom had a final score of 2-1.

When not conducting tournaments, our club conducts a wide variety
of chess-related activities which include, but are not limited to
social games, analysis of games, simultaneous matches against a rated
Master, and general instruction.
Our meetings are on Sundays, from 1:00 to 4:30 PM at the
Exposition Park Library. The Library's address and contact information
is:

Exposition Park Regional Library
3665 S. Vermont Avenue
Los Angeles, California 90007
Tel: 1 323 732 0169
Fax: 1 213 612 0540

All are welcome to attend our meetings, and we look forward to
seeing you there!

No doubt the professor is once again annoyed by evidence
that chess is played outside of the USCF's reach. Or does
he also whine about distant tournament announcements
in Chess Life?
