On Sunday, Feb. 4th, 2007, the Exposition Park Chess Club [http://
chess.expoparkla.com] hosted its monthly free, unrated, open chess
tournament at the Exposition Park Library [http://www.lapl.org/
branches/06.html] in Los Angeles.
The tournament consisted of one quad, and one Swiss System
section of six players. The tournament, therefore, attracted a total
of ten competitors.
The names of the winners, together with their winning scores,
were as follows:

1st Quad:
1st Place: Rene Aventura 3-0
2nd Place: Gerson Rodriguez 2-1

Swiss System:
1st Place: Jake Bailey 3-0
2nd Place: There was a tie for second place between Victor
Alarcon and Jose Quiroz, both with a final score of 2-1

When not hosting a chess tournament, our club holds regular
meetings on Sundays, from 1:00 to 4:30 PM at the Exposition Park
Library. Our chess-related activities include, but are not limited to,
social games, lectures, simultaneous matches against a rated Expert or
Master, chess analysis and instruction generally.
