Default Use of Discussion Groups for personal attacks

It's very tiresome to readnothing but personal attacks. It is childish
and counter productive. Persons interested in organized chess
activities who may searching these groups for more information is
likely to be turned off by all of these banal comments.

You may do as you like. Just realize that you do yourself and chess
the greatest disservice by continuing along this path.

Yes, and I wish these ugly fat oafs would get off their lazy butts and
do something more productive with their worthless time.

Actually, some of these attacks show originality and are quite
interesting.

You may do as you like. Just realize that you do yourself and chess

Sadly, most NG's are plagued by such. My killfile runneth over. ;-(

I know what you mean.

Maybe someone can make a new chess ng for them:
rec.games.chess.bash.me.again.and.again
or maybe
rec.games.chess.it.hurts.when.i.post

Just a thought,
Matt

Um, call me clueless, but isn't that the SOLE PURPOSE of this
generally stupid thread?

I mean, I sure don't come here to read insightful reportage on the
inner workings of the USCF.

You are clueless!

If Rob Mitchell had wanted to make a personal
attack in this thread, he of course would have
singled someone out, but he didn't. It is quite
obvious that you are, therefore, clueless.

The purpose of this thread was clearly to whine
and complain, not to launch any personal attack.
What I find odd is that RM will whine and complain
about any "attack" on (or valid criticism of) his old
pal, IM Innes, while at the same time ignoring
identical ad hominem targeting others in the very
same threads. Talk about selective memory... .
(This is precisely why I continue to question the
claim that these "two" are not one and the same
patzer.)

One thing I find annoying (apart from ad hominem
substituting for rational discussion of issues) is the
multitude of fake identities of a relative few posters
here, posing as a multitude in order to lend their
questionable arguments apparent support in
numbers, if not in facts or reason. For instance,
while a few may enjoy deciphering the many
faces of "sam sloan", I for one have better things
to do with my time (like getting clobbered by mere
patzers at RedHotPawn, for instance).

For those who may believe the chess newsgroups
have little or no value, let me reassure you that
nothing could be further from the truth; the folks
who are conducting in-depth studies of ad hominem
*need* these newsgroups as source material, just
as we need air to breathe. No other ready source
can compare. The simple truth is, we are in a class
of our own.

Bot,
Aren't you and I the same person? I am confused. Are you now atacking
yourself? Or am I attacking me? Gosh. I just don't know. ANd since you
claim the Mr. Innes and I are the same person and others claim that
you and I are the same person then it holds as logic that you and Mr.
Innes may be the same person. Actually since there is only one Polgar
sister according to recently published reports, maybe there is only
one chess player in the world? Sam Sloan is Bobby Fischer!

It's called rec.games.chess.politics, isn't it? Alas, people keep
cross-posting out of the group...
