Stop projecting ;-) They weren't any gayer than Yale blokes! Adolescents are sexual, not being overly particular with whom ![]() Rimbaud took a mistress in Africa - in a very remote place - he said he was practically the first Westerner there since Sir Richard Burton. But seriously, thx for coming around (to the extent possible) re Sloan. The same possibilities exist for everyone. And if ANY politician so conspicuously avoided direct questions about their current behavior I would not only resist listening to their views, I would actually strongly suspect any such reticence. I just gave Don Schultz a hard-time on a different issue, and thought his responses were more in the category of avoidance than answer. These guys have not allowed any real criticism of their own performance for a long time. As this does not build character! They make speeches at you and even think that is interesting, or they are doing you a favor! pfft! It is not true that members don't care for something real and straight-talk, as I think the shame-faced board found out after it fired Larry Evans. HERE IS THE MATTER In the matter of women and children in chess, it is my opinion that several current board members would not pass my test - and I think in this instance the standard needs to be higher than the current minimum [if that can be called a standard at all] and in the recent candidate-member interview I did ask specifically of both male and female candidates if they would also support a form of ombudsman [is that only an English word?] or at least a select panel of parents and women to advise the board of what most inhibits their chess lives. People expressed themselves variously, but I detected no demurrers among them. It is also a requirement for any mainstream scholastic futures to sufficient audit program executives, and attain standards not currently in place. Since this is the prize-of-all, how fitting to address the subject seriously, and for all people taking part. I think the report of any such parent and woman's panel - which would provide the context for a set of standards - cannot be binding, since someone must also say that it is 'do-able', and yet by including some such figure as an ombusman to assess what can be deployed, we would then achieve a standard to avert what affront can be avoided, and perhaps lay the foundation stone for even higher aspirations. "Situations have ended sad,
Relationships have all been bad." -- R. Zimmerman That was his best album! ["When a child, certain skies sharpened my vision" /AR] I remember a Shakespeare scholar asking me at the time what I thought of it, and I remember replying, 'he doesn't sound 'married' anymore.' I was maybe 20. A few years later [28?] I met Van Morrison who was putting interesting stuff to the popular culture at the time, and I asked him if he knew anyone who had tried Rimbaud verbatim? He didn't know. Leonard Cohen could maybe have done it 20 years ago. Maybe it would still go? AR bit through, as the Ching says. And with words anticipated impressionism, if a particualrly acute and socially oriented form that slaughtered the black decay of Empire writing. -------- Raise your eyes: that arched wooden bridge; those last truck gardens of Samaria; those faces reddened by the lantern by the cold night; silly Undine in her noisy dress, down by the river; those luminous skulls among the row of peas, - and all the other phantasmagoria - the country. Roads bordered by walls and iron fences that with difficulty hold back their groves, and frightful flowers probably called loves and doves, Damask damning languorously, - possessions of magic aristocracies ultra-Rheinish, Japanese, Guaranian, still qualified to receive ancestral music - and there are inns that now never open any more, - there are princesses, and if you are not too overwhelmed, the study of the stars - the sky. The morning when with Her you struggled among the glittering of snow, those green lips, those glaciers, black banners and blue beams, and the purple perfumes of the polar sun, - Your strength. -------- --Sad-eyed lady of the looooow-lands, no? Cordially, phil Innes |

wrote in message ups.com... "The ghetto prince of gutter poets Was bounced out of the room" heh! I am completely overwhelmed with chess projects, to make other replies here, but Les voix instructive eilées... L'ingénuité physique amèrement rassise... Adagio. - Ah! Instructive voices exiled... Physical candor bitterly quelled... - Adagio Ah! the infinite egotism of adolescence, the studious optimism: how the world was full of flowers this summer! Airs and forms dying... - A choir to calm impotence and absence! A choir of glasses, of nocutrnal melodies... Quickly, indeed, the nerves take up the chase.
