Default USCF Declares Bankrupcy

Crossville, TN
UPI Report By
Todd Lyon

UNITED STATES CHESS FEDERATION "CHECKMATED"

In a move intended to fend off creditors, Bill Goldburg and
Will.Halls, president and executive directors respectively of the
USCF, filed motions in Illinois, NY and Tennessee district courts to
begin protection from creditors. The oldest chess membership
organization found itself unable to meet it immediate obligations.
Halls stated that the immediate cash shortage was due in part to a
turbulent political situation caused by personality conflicts between
board members.

Recently the USCF sold their headquarters in New York and moved to
idyllic rural Tennessee to expand chess. Moving costs have tended to
be excessive said Sandra Bishops, one of the office managers. An
unsuccessful merging of the USCF and the North West Chess Group fell
through when dubious schemes involving internet porn were discovered
on the latters website.

The USCF intends to liquidate it's rating service, a fee charged to
chess players to determine their playing stregnth, to outside vendors
in an attempt to raise cash. The books and equiptment business was
outsorced two years ago for the same reasons.

The Kracsparov Chess Group is interested in buying the rights to
organize scholastic chess tournaments from the USCF. "This may alow us
to run a scaled down clubs operation" said Halls.

One think for sure, If the right moves arent found soon, it will be
check and mate for the USCF. If they can succeed or fade into the
history books as former World Champion, Bobby Fischer has done still
remains to be seen.
