A study book I have by Bondarenko cites this "365" book - it's
publication date was 1968, and it lists the book at "365 Auswahlte(sic) Endspiele," with a *1960* publication date and "Heidelberg" as the city of issue. I would contend this makes it likely that the book was probably issued by Rudi Schmaus - his chess bookstore and publishing venture were both located there. I don't know copyright law well enough to make an assertion, but does this perhaps mean that Sam is publishing a book where the copyright belongs to someone still? Or did he find a way to transfer it to him? And if so, I make no comment on the ethical implications of such a thing, as I am sure others will. |

Or try Manfred Mädler who is now in Dresden, ex Dusseldorf. ["Schachhaus"] --- He is good, BTW on the Deutsche Shachblätter, if you like your chess with swastika's on it, and also Hans Frank in Cracow, and Euwe's 'collaboration' in 1941 with Bogo. But don't ask a Pole about Wewel Castle, since he will have other associations. Distribution of the work itself will likely overcome any possible distributions difficulties which are likely unenforceable, especially in the US, which as you know, is not quite on-board with the rest of the world. [See Penguin distribution US& Canada] and the radically different rules here, than anywhere else. Sloan takes any comments he can, for or against, ethical or not. Its all the same to him.
