I'm having problems running CB9 under Vista Ultimate 32 bit.
It was the only program of many that was flagged by the Vista Installer as possibly incompatible, and, even when run under XP emulation mode, the program is very slow. Running under a top of the line E6550 core 2 duo chip. Also the programmers of the "Big Database 2007" tried some tricks that make it difficult to view the DVD under Vista's File Manager (it takes forever) FYI |

For example, the Big Database 2006 had many such false positive duplicate games. And to think I actually paid money for this. Never again. RL |

I've been real disappointed in CB9. It can take 5-10 minutes to
generate the same opening report CB7 does in 30 seconds, I hate all the icons, and it often slogs my computer down. It also oddly somehow misses games. |

I know a bit about programming since I hobby code. For example, the CB9 has a feature where you can right click on the DVD drive holding a database of games, and the database will automatically be written to the hard drive. This worked great under XP, but when I switched to Vista, this trick is broken--I could not even access the BigDatabase2007 disc. Much more robust would have been to use the standard Windows commands of "open" under a menu. CB9 needs to become CB10 and be designed for Vista (I'm sure Chessbase is working on it). RL |
