Wow. Mamedyarov was up two pawns with the White pieces and just resigned to Carlsen. Very confused. Aronian-Topalov in an imbalanced endgame. Topa has the the twin Rooks and Aronian has the two extra pawns, to go along with his Rook & Bishop. |

- Aronian defeted Topalov in a 62-move game. Radjabov is having a difficult time trying to put ANand away, even with the Rook vs Bishop advantage. Anand may hold on for a DRAW. So far, Aronian & Carlsen have the only Wins of the day, with the Radjabov-Anand match the only one still in progress (move 68). |

Radjabov held on to beat Anand (85 moves). Great game and a great start for Radja. On a side note, Fabiano Caruana won his first round game in Group C with the Black pieces. Here are the matchups for tomorrow's Round 2: L. van Wely - J. Polgar V. Topalov - V. Ivanchuk B. Gelfand - L. Aronian P. Leko - M. Adams M. Carlsen - P. Eljanov A. Anand - S. Mamedyarov V. Kramnik - T. Radjabov Anand & Mamedyarov are both coming off of first round losses, so that should be an exciting game. Kramnik-Radjabov should be the game of the day. |

Thanks for the update and telling us who you think are best games of the
day.... I wish this was on pay per view because i would be watching ...My webtv can not follow the games live .....Some day i will buy a real computer..... Yes , Anand vs Mam will be good , i think who ever loses this game will not have a chance to win the tournament ....I think if no one has a clear advantage within the first 20 moves they will draw soon after , maybe 5 to 8 moves... The I7 year old Carlsen is PUMPED up to get this win.....Is he a future world champion ? These next few weeks will give you a idea since he is going against the best..... Polger held on for a draw , i think this is my pick just because she is a huge underdog + the only lady ...Lets see how she does in round two... |
