And his PhD allowed them to keep up the myth that their players were not professionals. On the other hand they would not let Levenfish quit in the late 1930s, even though he was getting on in years and was still productive as a scientist. William Hyde Didn't Fischer before the Palma De Mallorca tournament want to quit chess, but he pondered the question "What else can I do?" And he knew the answer was nothing. EZoto |
