While the USCF is using its credit line to make payroll, not collecting on roughly $100,000 in accounts receivable and talking about going to the LMA for operating funds, I find it amazing that the EB can decide to "help" Kamsky with free advertising in CL and online. Free advertising isn't free to the USCF. Free advertising when cost constraints have forced the cutting of eight pages from CL (hat doesn't even address the issue of eliminating CL all together)? Free advertising for Kamsky, or anyone else, is simply giving away money that the USCF does not have. Instead of thinking about helping Kamsky, how about helping the USCF?! At this point, IMMHO, bankruptcy would be the best medicine this organization could ever be given. Get a Trustee in Bankruptcy in and the EB out; freeze the assets; restructure the organization. Sorry, but I disagree. Gata Kamsky is the first serious US contender for the World Chess Championship since Fischer played Spassky in 1972. The "Fischer Boom" caused major growth in the popularity of chess and in USCF Membership. There are differences. Kamsky is not nearly as colorful as Fischer was but Rustam Kamsky will be available for comic relief. Also, we knew that Fischer would beat Spassky if only we could get him to sit down at the board and play the game. Kamsky has chances against Topalov but he still has to be regarded as the underdog. Devoting pages in Chess Life to Kamsky is clearly appropriate, far better than giving pages to you-know-who who retired from chess years ago. Sam Sloan |

**** off sloan!
who in their right mind would make a deal with you? your entire career is about these connections you have; real imagined and plain made-up. without them, what have you to say to anyone else? its one matter to have raised hell at uscf [deserved], but another not to have done anything about any single item of it which benefits anyone else - instead the result of your actions will surely destroy the thing you love? you seem to be the last person to appreciate the result of what you do - and if this is libertarianism, then that term means nothing more than wanton egoic irresponsibility and grandstanding for some gallery of people out there beyond the moron-layer, and the only thing 'free' about such expressions is its freedom from any sense whatever get it yet? if you can work with no other people at all, then your /real/ dedication to chess has no social role - consider that for your future, otherwise you might as well claim to be as adult a person as was Fischer, who was despised phil innes "samsloan" wrote in message ...
