At the official Web site for FIDE there is a lead-in to an article
about Bobby Fischer. Here is how it starts off: "Robert James Fischer (1943-2008), the only American ever to become World Chess Champion in 1972 after winning the title match against Boris Spassky...". You gotta hand it to these guys-- unlike so many others, they got the facts straight! Yes, BF was indeed the /only American/ (or any other nationality, for that matter) to become champ /in 1972/ and after winning the title match against that guy. They nailed it. LOL However, in the main body of the article they goofed by attributing the *invention* of shuffle-chess to BF; obviously, this was already well-known in the time of Jose Capablanca, if not even earlier; all BF did was choose which particular version he liked best, and slap his name on it; like when I picked the Ferrari Testarossa... except that they refused to rename it the helpbottarossa. I also take issue with the claim that the time-delay clock has solved the problem of time pressure; in one of my recent games, I had a theoretically drawn ending, but the clock had me at just four seconds and I was moving as quickly as I could; I lost a position that a Class C player would be embarrassed to lose, that is, were there no time pressure and had the newfangled clocks solved this problem, once and for all-- as claimed. The article maintains that although BF has had many disputes with "authorities", he almost never had one with other chess players... WOW! Did they ever miss the mark. In fact, BF attacked numerous other players, calling them cheaters and accusing them of conspiring against him; one example is Victor Kortchnoi, who was unjustly accused by BF of "throwing" his games. Obviously, the Fischer myth has blinded many to the simple facts; it reminds me of Paul Morphy, and all the crazy stuff that has been written about him-- or rather, about Paul Morphy, the myth... . -- help bot http://www.fide.com/news.asp?id=1578 |

Looks like you love Cars a lot. and Ferrari is your Fav Car. I am fan of Bykes as we get good air on Byke and It needs les oil saving the Environment. If you go by Bikes instead of Cars you can save a lot of oil and save environment. Bye Sanny Play Chess at: http://www.GetClub.com/Chess.html |

Maybe I'll have the 900 horsepower engine pulled, and replace it with something smaller, like maybe the 700 hp engine from my Bentley... . -- enviro-destruct bot P.S.: I don't really have any of these cars; you knew that-- right? |

i have a I968 RT Dodge Charger 440 magnum. Clint Eastwood apparently liked the .440 magnum, using it in a "Dirty Harry" movie. But an article in some gun magazine concluded that, because of the anticipation of a nasty kick when firing, it was no more deadly a weapon than the diminutive .22 caliber rifle (which always hits where it's aimed). Sometimes, my attempts at making a joke are taken seriously, as here, where I was scolded for being a destroyer of the environment for driving "my" Ferrari Testarossa gas-hog. Naturally, if I did own such a vehicle, I could not afford to actually drive it; instead, I would trade it for a house, a Toyota Prius, and move someplace a bit warmer. Sanny is now claiming that only a genius can defeat his program-- even on the Beginner level! I take that as a challenge, and trust me, even if it takes me the rest of my life, I will uphold the honor of bot-kind. Sooner or later, I am bound to discover a miniscule flaw in the program, and luck into a freak win... . -- help bot |

Fritz 5.32 is perhaps around 2600 strength; do you really hate Ivan so much that you want to see him get slaughtered by Fritz? Poor Ivan... . -- help bot |

wow , i did not think it was that much elo ..
What is Fritz eleven then ? You mite be right to save your money on the new Fritz because it could not be much more , maybe 2900 elo ? Or has it made 3000 , elo ? You should look into the one id get HIRCS , If i had a real computer id be playing that vs other computers all the time ... i would write down all the time limits , 5 min , I0 , 20 , 30 , 45 to one hour games and keep track of the wins , loses , and draws it has vs other programs at each of those time limits as black and white and try and find out the sweet spot . The time limit it wins the most at ... Id want my program to destroy other programs and crush their silicon brains.....ha ha ha.... I feel that way about Ivan too , i have played it vs Fritz 9 and lost as black and white ...On one end game Ivan had his rook protecting a lowly pawn while Fritz was attacking the King , i kept yelling at Ivan to move the rook to help the King and by the time Ivan woke up and stated to move the rook over to help it was pretty much over...ha ha ha..... I can see Ivans weakness in the end game when it plays powerful programs but i am not good enough to exploit it myself when i play Ivan...... |

Fritz 10 is rated 2856, but there are *free* chess engines rated even higher! The thing is, to use an engine inside the Fritz interface, it has to be a certain type. Personally, I have "issues" with both the Fritz interface and the free alternatives which handle the other type of engines. For instance, it is very difficult to get Fritz 5.32 to do what I want it to do; the designer seems to have been from another planet. And yet the Arena interface, which is free, frequently gets stuck where you can't move anything until you figure out what square is "highlighted", then go and click it just so whereupon you can then make the next move on the board. Typing in the moves has its own issues, for the interface wants to chop off the last letter /sometimes/ and then decides your next entry is invalid because it took that letter and placed it in front, as if /trying/ to muck things up. -- help bot |
