Default From where can I buy Chess Programs?

Say, I want to buy a Chess Program where will I search for them?

I am asking this Question because I want to know where do people go to
buy Chess Programs. Then I will Sell GetClub Chess over all those
places.

I went to amazon.com and found lots Chess Program were sold there. I
wanted to sell GetClub Chess. But it asked me to search items from a
list and I found all Chess Programs Listed there but GetClub Chess was
not listed. So I was unable to sell GetClub Chess at Amazon.com.

How can I sell a new Product at Amazon.com? As it only asks me to sell
products already listed on their site.

I would like to sell it at Ebay.com but I could not understand how to
sell GetClub Chess there.

Can Someone give me list of Sites which sell Chess Programs. So that I
too sell my GetClub Chess over those places.

I will give 10% commision to the site selling my Chess Program.

Which are the Top Sites where I should sell the GetClub Chess?

Because till now I was interested in developing the Program. Now I
want to get Profit by selling it. My Target is to sell atleast 1000
copies a month.

Please suggest all places and techniques that will help me sell
GetClub Program to new Customers.

Bye

I honestly don't know what to say here, because I have the tiniest
feeling that this is a joke. But I'll proceed as if this is a sincere
request.

From everything I've heard about this program, there are dozens of
FREE programs that will completely destroy it. Therefore I would be
very surprised if you sold more than a few dozen copies total. But I
could be wrong, as there are lots of collectors out there who won't
mind spending a few dollars just to increase their collection or to
purchase an oddity such as your program.

It is easy to sell something on ebay; all you need is an account and
then just go through the "Sell an item" path. You will need a good
description of the program and everything that is included in what is
being purchased. You will also need to give people something physical
(meaning, your program on a disc) as I doubt that anybody on ebay
would pay for a program that they would have to download.

Don't bother with Amazon. It's much more complicated and they are only
interested in selling larger quantities that your program (in its
current state) will not accomplish.

You mentioned about free chess programs. Can you please suggest a couple of
free, strong chess programs, about expert level or higher, that can play
blitz chess on windows xp or 2000? Thanks.

Not every engine on this site can play at expert level. Others can
play stronger, but can't be "dumbed down" to expert level.

Go to this site to see their approximate ratings:
http://wbec-ridderkerk.nl/html/BayesianElo_ed14.htm

Go here if you have any specific questions about any Winboard engines:
http://wbforum.vpittlik.org/

All of the above is for Winboard engines. There is another chess
engine communication protocol called UCI, which I am not very familiar
with. A little bit of googling should give you similar sites as the
ones above, but dedicated to UCI engines.

Quite a few of the engines at the Ridderkerk site are also UCI - Fruit,
Toga, Spike to name 3 strong ones. A UCI engine will run under the Arena
interface as well as under one of the ChessBase commercial interfaces

Thank you for the info! Do I have to join Winboard or UCI to use these
chess programs? Anything that can run as stand-alone on my own PC, so I can
play against it without connecting somewhere to the internet?

Winboard and Arena (for UCI) are free programs that are standalone.

You can get Winboard he
http://ftp.gnu.org/gnu/winboard/winboard-4_2_7b.exe

You can read all about Winboard from its original creator he
http://www.tim-mann.org/xboard.html

You can get Arena he
http://www.playwitharena.com/

Enjoy!

Thanks for the pointer! I found a good description of UCI here
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Universal_Chess_Interface
(I thought it had something to do with Univ. Cal. Irvine :-)

In short, is this what I'll have to install?
First install either a UCI interface Arena or install Winboard
Then install one of the free chess programs from here
http://wbec-ridderkerk.nl/html/lastupdates.htm

Is this how most chess programs are designed today by using either UCI or
Winboard?

Yep, that's pretty much it. Winboard and Arena are chess interfaces
(GUIs), and they can use any chess engine that supports them. Most
engines are one or the other, some are both, and some are neither
(they typically come with their own custom GUI).

The only thing to be careful of is that there are two Winboard
versions, 1 and 2. Most engines/interfaces only support one version.
Chessmaster, for instance, only supports Winboard v1 engines, so a lot
of newer engines won't work on it if they only support v2.
