Default Los Angeles Open Chess Tournament

Solve Chess Problems!
You are among the elite. You can actually think!
We, the devoted, driven, and daring members of the Exposition Park
Chess Club actually like that. We warmly invite your participation in
our chess club.
This coming first Saturday of the month, August 2nd, will be the
occasion of a free, open, unrated, three-round chess tournament. Cash
prizes will *NOT* be awarded, but the names of the winners will be
published in the Los Angeles area print media, posted transnationally
in this Usenet newsgroup, and celebrated worldwide on our club's Web
site [http://chess.expoparkla.com/].
Players of all skill levels, from beginner to Master, are invited to
compete in this tournament. It will begin promptly at 2:30 PM and end
at 5:30 PM Pacific Daylight Time. Advance registration (at least 48
hours beforehand!) is easiest by visiting our club's Web site; Use the
link near the words "online tournament signup".
The tournament will take place at the Jefferson Branch Library
[http://www.lapl.org/branches/17.html], which is located West of the
University of Southern California, and South of the West Adams
district [http://www.lapl.org/branches/maps/17-m.html].
The Library's address is:

Jefferson Branch Library
2211 West Jefferson Blvd.
Los Angeles, California 90018
Tel: 323 734 8573

The Library is on the North side of Jefferson Blvd., at the
intersection with 2nd Ave. There is ample parking in the lot (which is
also accessible to the handicapped!) on the South side of the Library.
Street parking in front of the Library is also ample. In-person
tournament registration begins at 2:00 PM and closes at 2:30 PM.
Competitors should arrive early for in-person registration so that no
delays occur.
By playing in this tournament you will develop more self-control,
experience more profound intuition, transcend former obstacles, dazzle
others with your sense of humor, develop weapons of world joyousness -
well, maybe not the world joyousness thing.
In any case come to this tournament for a most rousing time of
chess-playing!
P.S.: Due to the large attendance at our previous tournaments, to be
certain of being able to play, it is strongly advised that you, as the
competitor, should BRING YOUR OWN CHESS SET BOARD AND CLOCK!
