Who wrote the article for smithsonian? Does Jenny have a publicist? The
whole article smells like a big publicity campaign for her -- trying to get some corporate sponsorship? Just a couple questions from Flobby "Lets get the big money into chess" Bisher |

Well if it is then there is nothing wrong with it unless it is a big lie. Going for the money. The Kournikova syndrome I call it. As long as they aren't doing anything illegal then they can do what they want to make money. If they don't want to have morals there isn't much you can do. EZoto |

Mig, do you know the inside story or are you speculating?
She's gotten a lot of press lately and it's not uncommon for people to hire someone to help. I'm curious and speculating she may have an agent or publicist. There's nothing wrong with that, nor is it a conspiracy theory. ps. When you going to do some commentary on games for chess.fm? |

Sorry, just my natural sarcasm reflex. Paul Hoffman is a good friend
of mine and a very accomplished writer and I also know Jen. (And contributed photos to the Smithsonian article.) Paul had been working on a profile of Jen since before he went to Seattle for the US Championship. He writes on chess for the NY Times and is working on a book on chess. I'm not aware of any publicity drive by (or for) Jennifer Shahade other than those connected to her participation in the USCF women's Olympiad training squad. She does not have an agent or publicist, unless he's very stealthy (which would be rather unorthodox!). Chess.fm has never asked me to do anything with them, simple as that. I'll be doing some multimedia stuff for Playchess.com soon, however. I hope it will be better than the rambling on-the-fly audio/video reports I did for KasparovChess back in the day: http://realonesearch.real.com/search...osrc=g_browser (Second one down, but it's only the final London 2000 report and interview with Garry, I think. One day I'll put up all the daily reports from the London 2000 match; some were interesting.)
