"Richard Stanz" wrote in message om... Who are the best attacking players of all time? Do you mean the attacking players with the best results or the crazies? Tal fits both categories. Kasparov is probably the all-time best attacking player as far as results go. Currently Morozevich and Shirov are the two best crazies. They create complications out of thin air. -- Ian Burton [Please Reply to Newsgroup] |

I thnk Tal is the best attacking player ever.
Fischer is reputed to play 'the best move' so if a quiet move is the best in the position, he would play a quiet move. Tal on the other hand would not, he would strive for an attack and/or complications (IMHO) "Richard Stanz" wrote in message om... Who are the best attacking players of all time? |

The really strong players have all been great attackers, if only because they do everything well. When one thinks of the World Champions, Alekhine, Tal and Kasparov come readily to mind. But Capablanca, Petrosian and Karpov could bring an attack to a successful conclusion with just as much skill and aplomb. Are there any masters of lesser rank that warrant inclusion in the list of great attackers? Someone mentioned Nezhmetdinov. Someone else mentioned Adolf Anderssen. What about Blackburne, Janowsky, Pillsbury, Marshall, Spielmann, Richter, Tolush, Kupreichik, Ljubojevic, Shabalov, etc.? |
