Am about to order a chess set from USCF, 3 3/4 inch, item S472B. Want a folding
board rather than a rollup one. USCF doesn't seem to have one. Does anyone know where I could get a folding board, vinyl-cardboard. Does anyone carry a similar type set and board package? Rudy, returning to the game. |

Be very careful with these.
Frank Cameratta`s 'House of Staunton' has a high reputation for chess equipment in general, but his folding boards are really unusable. If someone set one of his down in front of me for a tournament game, I`d probably refuse to play on it, because of the massive gap between the two halves of the board. The best were these folding linen boards from a few years back, which are discontinued now. They were perfect... when you opened them, the space between the two sides of the board was minimal, the squares were the perfect size, the surface had no glare and reflection, and the texture was just right to avoid slipping pieces and just enough to let them slide just a tiny bit. If you can find one of those, you`re in luck. But avoid 'House of Staunton' on this one for sure. I ordered one, thinking it was as I described above, and what I got was unusable. - Joshua B.
