I'm going to be in London for a few hours next week (I live in a
small town in the North) and would like to buy a good wooden chess set there. Which places would you recommend? Preferrably not too far from the city centre. Thanks, Marco |

I assume that you will be taking the train to either King's Cross or St. Pancras. If you do that, your best bet is probably the London Chess Centre on Euston Road, beyond Euston and Warren Street tube stations. The nearest tube is Great Portland Street. See: http://www.chess.co.uk/ Alternatively, if you'll be arriving by coach at Victoria Coach Station, you may prefer to visit the BCM Chess Shop at 44 Baker St., W1U 7RT. Last year I bought a chess set in BCM Chess Shop.
44 Baker Street London I picked that shop because it is not far from where Sherlock Holmes lived. regards, Dik "Marco" schreef in bericht om... I bought a £500 set from the London chess and bridge centre, its on Euston
road, a few hundred yards further down from Madame Tussauds (and on the opposite side of the road) They have a website http://www.chesscenter.com/ "Mhoulsby" -remove- wrote in message ... You could comfortably do both - I did. They're within walking distance of
each other. "Marco" wrote in message m... Thanks very much to all those who replied I think I'll goto the one on Euston Road. Marco |
