"Chess Starts Here," a video by Bruce Pandolfini and Joshua Waitzkin, the real life teacher and pupil pair portrayed in the movie "Searching for Bobby Fischer." Try uschess.org and click on the "Shop" link. I understand that the "Masterchess" playing software includes instruction. You can learn how to play at the "Chess is Fun" website, http://www.princeton.edu/~jedwards/cif/intro.html Chessopolis is a huge collection of links to other sites. This is their page with links to instructional sites: http://www.chessopolis.com/tutorials.htm If you ever get a hankering to go the old-fashioned route, i.e., books, then "Complete Idiot's Guide to Chess" seems to be the most frequently recommended beginners' book. It's really quite good. And once you know how to play, then "Beginning Chess" by Bruce Pandolfini is a good collection of exercises. Good luck and have fun. Bob Musicant Norwalk CT |

Convekta has some excellent CDs.
"Chess School for Beginners" is excellemt "Chess Tactics for Beginners" is also excellent, though intermediate players could also derive great profit from it. Chess Mentor is also excellent. |
