Default Ponomariov`s Interview

You can read an interview with FIDE world chess champion Ruslan Ponomariov
on :

http://www.etcc.chessbg.com/interviews?i=read&id=4

He confirms my suspicions that we should blame FIDE with its president
Kirsan Ilyumzhinov for the cancellations of the matches ...
What`s more Ponomariov points out the role Kasparov could have played in the
cancellation of the second match in Yalta. It`s nice to read that he is not
afraid of Kaspy and still is willing to play a match under normal
circumstances ;-)

Regards,
Jerzy

Of course, we should blame the FIDE president. After all, he forced
Ponomariov to miss his deadlines to sign the contract...

And of course, if it hadn't been for Ilyumzhinov and his
silly speed chess KO formula tournaments, Pono wouldn't
have been able to call himself World Champion in the first
place.

Easy come, easy go!

No, we can read :

Q:Garry Kasparov openly accused Silvio Danailov, your manager, that he bears
most of the blame for the failure of the match. Were there any additional
financial claims from your side?
("24 hours" daily, Bulgaria)

A:I think this is ridiculous. My opinion is, that the match was canceled by
Ilyumzhinov and he alone bears all responsibility in this case. What were
his real motives, I cannot understand. He alone single-handedly took that
decision. Perhaps when he was in Moscow he called Garry Kasparov to consult
him how to act in this situation. Perhaps Garry Kasparov was scared of the
match taking place in Ukraine. This could be the reason.

Of course, you can claim the opposite. Anyway, the role of the duo: Kaspy
and Ilyumzhinov shouldn`t be underestimated in the cancellation of the
match...

Jerzy

Looks like old lion Kaspy lost some teeth and had to pact with Ilyumzhinov
....

Yeah, that's why Kasparov had signed the contract and Pono
didn't...Kasparov signed on to play because he was afraid...
