Why doesn't Nigel Short eat ham?
It says he doesn't in the book of the 1993 WC match.

I would just like to add that since I began using Usenet in October 1979
this is definitely the hammiest thread I have been involved in.

It says in Dominic Lawson's book _The Inner Game_, that Short's requests
for his break room in the 1993 WC match were (quoting from memory but the
bit about ham is accurate), `Coffee, any sandwiches except ham, and
regular massages from Madonna.' Perhaps he just doesn't like ham
sandwiches or, more specifically, the sort of ham sandwiches provided by
catering companies. They're often pretty vile.

"Why doesn't Nigel Short eat ham?" (alaneobrien)
=============
Maybe because he's not from Alabama. He's probably also missing redeye gravy,
grits, blackeyed peas, crispy fried chicken, breaded catfish, seasoned
collards, pecan pie, and all that good stuff from deep in Dixie.

I don't know. Why wouldn't Pythagoras cross a field of beans?

It is likely that Bobby Fischer would be happy to expound upon a
theory about why Nigel D. Short does not eat ham, if you were to ask
him.
