Is there any "best" book of commented games that I should look for as a
beginner? I appreciate the value of such an approach, and have seen that there are dozens of them out there. Thanks, Kirk |

Thanks, Kirk Chernev's Logical Chess is probably more basic than the Tartakower book, as is Euwe's Chess Master vs. Chess Amateur. Both are basically just annotated games. Maybe Reinfeld's book on Capablanca too (I haven't read it though). None of these books has nearly as many games as Tartakower's though. -T |

I was impressed that I didn't find it patronizing (while I'm not a very strong player, I'm certainly not a beginner) and it seemed to give useful advice.
